HD XM radio purchase today

Just bought the XM module add on to the HK on my RGU. Got one hell of a deal on it used my dealerships "rewards" card and the sales person told me she would give me double points if I bought it today. I just couldn't pass it up for half off. I got it for $301 for module, wiring harness and antenna mount. Had to order the mount so waiting on that.

Anyone installed this and have any pointers, likes, dislikes, etc

Going to transfer subscription from truck to bike (If they will let me) bc I spend more time on the bike than in my truck anyway.

Will post pics of the install when my antenna mount arrives.

Yes! You can transfer your current service to a different radio (known as a "swap"), as long as your new radio is not currently active on a trial subscription. There's a one-time fee for the swap, which varies by package type. For most packages, the transfer fee is $15. I have one and have done changed radios three times. But I use the Docking Station. Not the Module installed inside the fairing. This way I can just move the Radio from car to bike to home.

First get the radio ESN/Radio ID number for both radios. You can't do anything without those numbers. Then, if you have created an "On Line Account, just log in to the Online Account Center, locate the radio that you'd like to swap another one for and select "Swap this radio with another" from the drop-down box. If you don't have an "On Line Account", just call Listener Care at 1-866-635-2349. Just be ready for them to ask for a lot of information to make sure you are you.

Klingon dude is right, it is fairly easy. I bought a Garmin Road Tech Zumo 665, and got it registered before I found out it was not Brand New (long story), and did not work all the time. Folks at XM gave me the assistance needed to transfer the registration to the Really Brand New one the dealer swapped for the Not Really Brand New one.

I kept the one in my Truck. The second subscription is cheaper than the first, but just a bit. I hate commercials, and I primarily use the truck for long distance drives, so XM makes it better.

In theory, Theory and Reality are the same. In reality, they are different.

I have had an XM module since new (2009FLTR). My antenna was mounted inside the faring per HD specs and I would experience reception issues anytime I was traveling in a southerly direction. SE and SW were so-so as well. Took my antenna out of the faring and mounted it on my bars and so far, so good. However, others have had good luck with their antennas in the faring.
You may want to look at another subscription for the bike, as XM discounts 2nd radio. I think it's about 9 bucks a month. Good luck!

Check out this mount...

That is Harley P/N 76000016. It is designed for the Road Tech 665 antenna, but you should be able to mount others with a little ingenuity. I have hand no issues with reception with this mount. It mounts high under the fairing, up against the side of the radio. Seems like a good spot, away from any metal. I have the Harley Windshield Trim, which is a potential signal blocker, and it still works great, even going South
