What's a better speaker? Boom, Hawg Tunes, J&M

I'm just looking to see who has either the factory replacement BOOM audio, Hawg Tunes or J&M drop in speakers, NO AMP. Just speakers to get rid of the crappy factory ones. I only wanna do a speaker swap and wanna see some reviews, between these three prices are within a few bucks of one another.

2012 Road Glide Custom Vivid Black named "Becky" with a simple motto "If it came from the factory like that, it doesn't belong on the bike!"

I was just like you and didn't want to do the amp thing, but just better sounding speaker than stock. I bought the boom replacements, and they did sound better, but also sounded like it need more juice.so I amped them up and it sounds great.

you'll save yourself a good amount of change if you just go with a car audio speaker. IMHO they'll sound better too. I think motorcycle speakers are way overpriced.

For me, the Boom speakers are your best bang for the buck to keep it simple. I installed Rockford Fosgates & an amp n my '06 and it didn't compaire to what I got fromthe $129.00 Boom upgrade in my '12

Infinity Kappa and Polk MM come to mind as being popular trail or wakeboarding speakers

meaning they are 2ohm, harley stock system compatible and in the higher output range of their category

I had a buddy who started with the J&M's and then swapped to the Booms. He just went with the 5.25 replacement with no amp. He said to him the Booms sounded better than the J&Ms.

I started with the 7.25 J&M and the RF amp300X4, the J&M couldn't handle the power. So I went back to the stock speakers with the amp and got the sound I wanted, at 80mph I can hear crisp and clean sound, I would however like to have a little more bass but all in all the stock speakers with an amp are just fine...

I did the hawg wired 5.25 replacement speakers and amp kit with wire harness for the 04 RG. Sounds great and clear at highway speeds. Much better than stock.

Just wondering if you ride in the rain ? If so how do the car speakers hold up ?

i don't (won't) ride in the rain. I live in Southern California. We don't get much rain. A lot of the car speakers are marine grade now. I know that Polk's are. that's what I'm running right now, but will upgrade to the Infinity Kappa's in a short while.
