Hertz HCX165 instal into 2017 Road Glide Fairing

I am sure that this has been covered, but I cannot find any real consistent information or solutions for this. I am going to be installing some hertz hcx165 speakers in the fairing of my 17 RGS. I have read several posts discussing the fit situation... and that they are probably not going to fit without some sort of modification. I have read that people used heat guns and also that there are adapters for the speaker pods??

So, Here is what I would like to know..
1 - I would like to know what you did with a heat gun to remold the pod? are there any pictures of this?? I have a heat gun and would be up to doing this perhaps.
2 - speaker adapters? What model adapter and where did you get it? Will I still be able to use the oem speaker covers?
3 - What other solution is out there?

Thanks in advance..

You should be fine with the HCX's, molding the pods was for the SV's which have a significantly larger magnet.

Biketronics has aluminum "adapters/spacers" that are about 1/4" and angle the speaker more to the driver and give a little bit more room for larger speakers.

I've installed them into my 2015. I had to cut an opening to clear the magnet. I then used sheet plastic that can be heat formed to seal the opening, followed by a layer of dynamat for good measure. You will also have install the speaker upside down (logo at the top upside down) for the speaker leads to clear. You will also have to rotate the tweeter to fit under the factory grill.
