Aftermarket HU help

So went with a Kenwood HU kdx-998 last summer.
The only issue is reading the screen while moving on the bike, at most times it is difficult to read unless it's overcast, under a tree or underpass or parked.

I have tried many colors/ contrast levels with some success .It is better the less lines on the display and and negative contrast and slight red orange.

Has anyone found a solution or plastic or something else to reduce the glare??

Not sure if Road Glides are better or worse than other touring bikes due to the steep upward angle of the HU in the fairing.

The only things I miss from the old Harley radio sound (2005) unit is the screen which was readable anywhere and the weather band channel!

One beef with the unit Kenwood did not release their app in Canada which is necessary to use the iheart app by the controls on the radio. I made several calls to them but they advise it will work by streaming your cell through Bluetooth. ( Big deal I don't want to messing with my cell while riding)

The contrast and +/- with orange worked best for me but there were still some times when it wasn’t visible. Not a lot, but some.

Some of the marine units use white which has had some good reviews for visibility.

You would think car units would be built to be seen as many would go in convertibles which would get a similar level of sun as a MC.
I guess not!

Not planning to replace yet, as it appears most units don't cut the sunlight.

I do believe that if you want to be able to see the display screen in sunlight you'll have to purchase a head unit that is LCD as opposed to LED.
Many members have gone with the Alpine CDE HD 149BT which is LCD and rave about them.
Other members that complain about not being able to see the display in sunlight have LED Head Units.
Hope this helps.

I didn't realize the difference.

I was considering an Alpine HU but sales rep didn't know or mention the difference about the screen.

Do you know if all alpine's have that LCD display.

In the end went with Kenwood 998 as it had a rear USB so can leave a 64 gig drive tucked up and away in the fairing.
