Help figuring out custom system upgrade on a $600 budget or less

Ok, guys,

Need your help again.

Need to upgrade my shitty stock speakers and amp on the 15 RGS. I am not adding any more speakers. Going to keep the two on the fairing and that's it.

I want it to sound the best under $600 bucks to include an amp What should I buy? If I can save another hundred or two that would be even better. Ill have a local shop install the audio. Please post recommendations and links for sources of the speakers/amps etc.

Just an FYI I am trying to stay away from Infinity Kappa's and other low-quality brands.

I mostly listen to Rap so I want it to jam on the highway at high speeds. I also have a loud exhaust system.

If you guys know any good shops that sell the stuff cheaper compared to other places let me know as well. All comments and recommendations are welcomed!

$600 only buys low quality. Unless you lookin used.

2010 FLTRX , Stage 1, 13" Madstad, Mono tubes, SuperShox, Heritage style bars. Alpine CDE-HD149BT,Soundstream Picasso Nano Series PN4.520 , 5X7 and 6.5 Infinity Kappa speakers

You go fast AND you have a loud exhaust AND you want it to rock AND you don't want entry level components AND you want it cheap AND you have to pay for an install AND the max is $600? Not gonna happen sir. I'm not trying to be a smart azz, just being realistic. Here's some options for you.

Can you remove your outer fairing? If you can, than you can remove your gas tank. If you can remove your tank you can install an amp and speakers. Just saved yourself 3-4 hours of labor at a shop.

Look in the classifieds here and the other forum, some good stuff going cheap as guys do winter upgrades.

What you want is a set of DD AW 6.5 with decent tweets (ES9 are cheap) and a JL Audio 280/4 or Diamond Audio Micro 2V2 bridged. Your not going to get that with $600, but it won't be a ton more. If you want to do it once and be done, save up and go this route.

Since you ruled out entry level, the next level up is something like the arc moto 602 or hertz millie 165.3 There's a set of each for sale on hdforums right now, the 602s posted in the last 10 minutes. The moto 602 sound better in my opinion, but the hertz will get slightly louder. Another option is the Biketronics 6.5. I think they're a tick below the arc and hertz, but I have a pair and will let them go cheap. For any of these speakers you'll need an adapter for them in the pods (about $60 from biketronics). DB WDX are popular right now and pretty cheap, but will require mods to your pods which I won't do. If you're comfortable cutting than they're on the table.

Pick up either of the amps above and you won't outgrow them. Lower level option would be soundstream pn4.520D. Won't fit as easy as the others or sound quite as good, but that's what you get on a budget.

You'll also need a biketronics line leveler, can probably find one used or about $70 new. Amp install kit will be around $40 at least.

Good luck, let us know what you go with.

Here you go: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/motor...ell-trade-193/

Tesnevo and drbuick are the 2 sellers I referred to. There's a set of polks out there now as well. Haven't run them personally, but based on guys that do they are somewhere between the infinities and motos/milles. They're cheaper, but won't sound as good.

Lots of help here if you have questions during install. Once you see how easy it is you'll be glad you didn't pay someone for a basic setup.

Are you positive you're only doing 2 speakers? A lot of us have said that in the past. The amps I mentioned are great for 2 speakers bridged, not at all recommended for 4 speakers.

I sent both the guys on the other forum your email address and let them know you're looking for speaks. Hopefully they'll reach out.

By the bottoms, I assume you're referring to lower fairing? You have to buy the lowers and separate speaker pods for the lowers, but the connection is pretty easy. You want speakers that get loud quick in that location because a lot of the sound will wash out at highway speeds. They help quite a bit around town at low to medium speed, but are basically fill for the front fairing at highway speed. The hertz SV 165 are very popular in lower pods because of the high sensitivity (get loud quick). To do that you'll need a good strong 4 channel amp.
