Wired headset issues...kinda bizarre

Few days ago I decided to test the wired headset that came with the RGU. Speakers worked, but mic did not. For phone calls.

Fast forward to today I went in for the first service. I asked the techs to test the headset. Thinking maybe I didnít have it configured properly.

We tried 4 H-D headsets all had same issue. The newer style with the 7-pin to 6-pin cable. None of them worked.

Then they tried an older style with the 7-pin to 7-pin cable. Worked perfectly.

They are going to contact H-D on Monday.

Just wondering if anyone else has had his issue? Also I have the WHIM installed but havenít broken down and purchased the H-D Sena headsets just yet.

If I am remembering right, the wired headsets aren't supposed to work after the WHIM is installed. This was discussed right after the WHIM came out. There was a thread on here about 20 pages long from back last summer. Perhaps you can find it. Had a lot of good info.

Thanks for that. The dealer didnít mention it I havenít heard from the dealer this week.

Thought I was being proactive by getting the WHIM but until they make an updated half helmet and WHIM compatible headset I am not spending $500.

Having been there myself, the wired headsets will still work on the RGU after the WHIM is installed; I used my Freewire with my Sena 10s until I got my HD 20s EVOs this spring and connected to the WHIM. In fact, since I usually rent a bike when I travel, Iíll keep my Freewire for that purpose...

I have a half helmet that I use with my 20s EVO; I picked up a set of earbuds to use with my Half helmet and it works great...

Yes, same problem. I have a 2016 Tri Glide and a 2018 Ultra Limited. Installed WHIMS on both. Afterwards, the wired headsets do not work in the "mic" mode. For phone, intercom, CB (no Mic). Harley dealership couldn't figure it out. They tried newer headsets, but not any older ones. They said that was something I would have to live with- Harley didn't think that all the way through quality control.
Still have the same issue after a year.

It's time to cut the cord with your bike. Now available for '14-later Touring and Trike models equipped with Boom!ô Audio 6.5GT Radios, this Wireless Headset Interface Module (WHIM) lets you communicate with your bike without being wired to it. The WHIM Bluetoothģ adapter permits wireless connectivity to the 6.5GT Infotainment system, allowing you to communicate via CB radio, hear turn-by-turn GPS directions, listen to your favorite radio stations and so much more all through your Bluetoothģ-enabled headset. Impact of Retrofit on Wired Microphone Functionality: Upon installation of the WHIM, your motorcycleís wired microphone functionality will no longer be available. However, wired audio will continue to function as before.
