2108 CVO Road Glide 6.5GT volume issues

OK, my Boom 6.5GT audio has an issue.
When I'm riding along and the volume is up (usually all the way) the base drops out and the volume goes up and down (or in and out).
This seems to happen to music only (and certain songs at that) the speech doesn't seem to be effected.
My Sena 20s EVO is not effected by this glitch.
I have worked on this and so has the dealer and no one can find an issue with the components.

Has anyone had this issue and what has been done remedy it?

If there is no answer, what replacement head unit can I install that still has the toggle control compatibility?

Please help!

If volume is all the way up itís probably your amp cutting in and out due to overload. Keep the volume to no higher than 14/17 notches and turn the AVC off.

There have been a few bad head units but itís not very common. The amp and speakers on the other hand - pure junk.

Thanks for your response!

I'll turn off the AVC and give it a try.

What do I do about the Amp and Speakers?
Extended Service Plan (warranty)?

What about after market options (with CarPlay and such)?

If it's an 18 the amp and speakers should be covered under the regular 2 year warranty. If they're cutting in and out and the dealer hasn't done anything yet you may want to find another dealer.

For aftermarket head units the Sony XAV5000 is the most common. Downside is you lose some hand control functionality and there is no built in NAV. Can always use Waze or other phone GPS apps but kind of screwed if you don't have cell service. On a CVO you'll also lose the TPMS display, but would still have the idiot light on the speedo. If you want the unit in a waterproof enclosure it's in the $800 range from biketronics.

For aftermarket speakers and amps the combinations are endless, it really depends on your budget.

You can get very good sound from the stock head unit, just takes the right speakers and amps in combination with a line leveler and flash - or a DSP if you want the best sound quality. A well tuned DSP with the stock unit is just as good as an aftermarket unit. The tough part is finding someone good at tuning if that's not something you've got the time or experience to do yourself. Lots of self taught guys have done it, but it takes patience and a lot of trial and error to get it right. It's also very possible to make your system worse using a DSP until you get it figured out.

Follow up on the 2018 Infotainment head unit

The "Head Unit" itself has been warranted and should be out of the shop in the next couple of days!

Wish me luck, bought the bike last Thanksgiving weekend and the sound hasn't been right yet.

just be aware, if you decide to go esp after the factory warranty expires, the esp does not cover speakers. amps, headunits, yes. speakers, no. that is, of course, if you stay with stock hd components.

I understand the concept of reality, but find it too confining for a way of life.
