Disappointed with “premium audio”

Hello all. New member here from Houston TX. 2019 Roadglide. Bike came with “Premium Audio”. Sad. Is there an economical upgrade to get it louder? I heard you have to flash the radio.

Welcome to the forum.

We’ll need a better idea of your definition of “economical”.

Food for thought, I’d be retired if I had a dollar for every guy that wanted the entry level setup and paid the bare minimum then came back and said he wasn’t happy and paid again and again until he was happy.

Buy once cry once. Sure wish I would have listened the first time someone told me that.

By economical I mean, can I add an amp for a couple hundred bucks that will give me more volume? Anything special have to be done?

Maybe, but the speakers really suck. If you're willing to go up to about $1000 you can get a system that you can hear at speed without having the volume maxed out. @roadie13 nailed it. I, too wasted money with amps and speakers before biting the bullet and getting the Arc audio components installed.

Would upgrading the speakers help?

Any amp worth having will smoke the stock speakers in a matter of minutes if not seconds. Most economical upgrade you’ll get is the CV B52 and a set of kappas. Loud as heck but very bright also. Will need a line leveler and amp power supply cables and remote turn on to go with it. Will fit above headlight so no amp tray needed. At that price point or slightly above you could probably find some decent lightly used stuff in the classifieds here or the other forum. Yes, bike will need flashed.

The next question you should ask is how many guys bought that exact setup? The answer is about a bazillion.

The next question after that is how many guys still have it? The answer is a very very small percentage of a bazillion, hence my retirement plan.

I’ll bet dollars to donuts that there’s a kool aid commercial coming your way soon.

Repeat after me: I will not drink the kool aid. I will not drink the kool aid. I will not drink the kool aid.

Nope. Stock head unit alone can’t power squat.

I had a CVB52 on my 2011 Streetglide. I liked it. So if I went with that amp on the Roadglide what would I need? Other than wires and stuff. What the heck’s a line leveler?
