Question 2011 CVO iPod interface

Hello folks,

I have a question that is reaching back a ways, tried researching but I have not found much. I just bought a 2011 CVO Ultra over the weekend. The only original piece missing is the iPod nano that was with the scooter. So far I see I have radio, CD, XM radio and the iPod interface, I would like to have this active for times I can't pull a signal. So, the question is, I see the included piece was an iPod nano. From researching the history it appears this would have been 5th generation I believe? I want to pick one up to use, can anyone tell me what generation I am limited to that will allow the use of the included interface and bar controls to operate?

Thanks in advance for your historical knowledge.

Paco

I have the iPod interface and with an adapter you could use newer iPods or iPhones. I use my phone with an adapter wire like this

This is what I did till I got rid of the bike last year. Do yourself a favor and get an Apple lighting to 30 pin addaptor and not some off brand. Off brands have a tendency to NOT work.

I picked up a used 64Gb Ipod touch off of Ebay for $25. Even on a 3 week road trip, i haven't gotten through all of the music yet
I also use a old 14Gb Ipod Nano.
I just leave either one plugged in all the time. (self powered antenna sucks so I don't used the radio anymore)

I used one with an Ipod touch on my 11. Worked great until one day I had to do an update on the touch and it got real goofy after that. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I was told they were made to work with the Nano and there was really no fix. I dumped the whole thing on my 13 and got a bluetooth head unit.

Thanks everyone for the info.

I will check ebay, get an ipod for cheap and if I need the adapter for it I will grab one. Good to know the hand controls will work.

I have probably 10K songs all cataloged on a hard drive so I just need to import them into iTunes it sounds like and I'll have all the tunes I need.
