Hello,So I just bought my 2015 CVO RGU and was thinking that I would install speakers into my lowers but then when I asked my friendly parts counter person about this I was told NO NO NO you can not do that.If you look at the HD audio chart it also shows that you cannot install speakers in the lowers. When I asked the parts person WHY??? they couldn't answer that part of the deal just said the catalog shows you can't and that was that.Other CVO's are allowed to have lowers installed into the lowers so why not the RGU? So I figured I would ask here and maybe someone in the know can explain it.

If I am understanding things correctly if I want to upgrade my system I would need to replace my current amp and speakers with a aftermarket system OR use ONLY HD products to upgrade? If it is something in the current amp that won't allow me to add lowers then my choices might be being made for me. What is making the newer bikes so expensive to upgrade?

If you look at the HD chart on what works and doesn't work it shows they won't work on the CVO but will work on the RGU which is also twin cooled.
So I am wondering if it has something to do with the Stage II system that is installed in the CVO's?

Yes a few companies make pods to mount speakers in the twin cooled lowers. But as I said in my original post from my understanding if I try to use non-HD parts I have to update the complete system to aftermarket. You can't piece meal a system like you could on the pre-2014 bikes.

I called the HD customer service line for Boom systems and asked. Funny story is that the reason they don't approve it on the CVO RGU is handling issues. WTF????
How can an amp and two speakers added to your lower fairing cause handling issues? But that was the answer I got.

Looking at all the parts I have to buy just to add lowers to my CVO I can buy an aftermarket system and then sell my Stage II system to someone who wants it.

Nothings worse than when someone gives you a bullshit answer.

Thanks for the list of items you used. A lot has changed and I'll be the first to admit I am lost as to what is good audio anymore.

I had J&M system on my old bike and am not going to go with their product this time. I like being able to just get everything at one spot but if I'll get a better system by putting it together with multiple brands then that is what I'll do.
