Flash or no flash?? 2015 CVO Road Glide Ultra, my factory fairiing mounted amp let it's smoke out. Intent is to replace amp and speakers with aftermarket so my first order of business was talking with BikeTronics about their breakout harness/line leveler setup to get me started on the wiring to an amp. Donna made mention that because the stock CVO head unit has such a flat frequency response built into it's flash, that they recommend getting the head unit flashed back to a standard Ultra configuration. Anyone have experience with this? Keep in mind that I'm not much of an audio nut job, so if it makes loud noise out of all 4 speakers I'm pretty happy.
Will you be using the Biketronics BTBOC? Did she tell you to use the BTBOC as well as flashing to the standard Ultra flash?
The standard Ultra (4 speakers 0 amps 4/0) is the one that is recommend for anyone that wants to add aftermarket amps and retain or add the ability to you the fade on your stock head unit.
I think you may be a little confused as you want the flattest signal you can get and the 4/0 is supposed to be the flattest flash that still retains fade.
Yes, I will be using the BTBOC, including the line levelers.
Yes, she said they recommended the flash, but it was not required.
From what I understood, she was saying that the CVO head unit had a very flat curve?
From what I've read several places here, the flash is not necessary with the line levelers.
This is why I'm asking if anyone else has actual experience(not just internet theories) doing an amp upgrade, without doing the flash.
Biketronics is a solid company and they would not steer you wrong. I have used their Line Leveler on both a 15 SGS and now also on a 19 RGS. I did not flash either of those bikes. On my 16 RGU I chose to change the radio out for the Sony unit instead of using the BTBOC.
I had the BT2180.15 kit in my 16. I did not need to flash my HU. Sounded great. Some will tell you the flash made it worse. I opted to try it before I flashed it and found no need. Did not want to have to pay to have it flashed back.
New system installed:
Rockford Fosgate PBR300x4
4-6.5" Polk Speakers
NO Flash
NO Line Levelers
Sounds WAY better than the OEM CVO audio system.
A bit short on bass, but has more than it did stock.
Biketronics BTBOC is a complete waste of money if you own a CVO with a factory amplifier, which Biketronics
fails to mention, even when you talk with them on the phone SPECIFICALLY about a CVO application.
A Cerwin Vega B54 does NOT fit in the 15-up fairing. Primarily because the 7.7" length listed in the specs by all their retailers
is actually closer to 8.875".

hmmm...I fit b54 in my fairing under the stock radio on a 16 rgs and on a 18 rgs I fit 2 b52's but glad you like the new system.
