amp comparison

nothing is obviously going to make the audio 'pop' like some cold hard RMS.

speakers almost seem secondary. not really, but... for now let's pretend.

so, I realize J&M is debuting a 500W amp in 2 weeks, but I'm still giving this some thought. the 250W amp. other similar amps from Bazooka, Elf, & Arc

Thinking Elf and Arc are off the table due to noise and fitment complaints on other forums. Bazooka pricier. Kinda leaning at the J&M at around $325.

plus it has a fall-away adaptor and wiring harness.

I'm the worst of all worlds, always insist on getting the best deal on new gear,
but really expect decent hard clean power, and would be much happier spending $200-300 v. $500-700...

Once I get the amp in, run two channels for a while, try different speakers at some point, maybe add vented lower with second set of speakers later

the other option is a shark amp for $50 and embrace the pop and hiss.

I have the JM 250w along with the 7.25 speakers and it really does pump out some sound. It isn't as clean as in a car, nor is there alot of bass, but given that its a bike, it sounds good and loud. On my 05 EG, I had a Sony tuner with amp (50wx2) and 5.25 hogtunes speakers and it didn't sound near as loud. I am sure you could probably get the same power for less money, but you would be playing a guessing game to find what sounds best, plus who knows what kind of warranty you would get. JM will back their products and are pretty good to deal with.

Where did you buy their amp for $325? J&M's website is well over $400

I think I got mine from Dr.V-twin. I can't remember the exact price, but I think it was well south of 400.

I have yet to have any issues with the Arc product. Most problems come from a poor install though. Forget about the factory poor speakers, install a amp and speakers and grow your system if need be from there.

I have the Wetsounds Amp a Marine grade ARC amp it you will and I have had absolutly no problems with it and would definatly recomend it to anyone. I cant see how anyone would complain about these amps. I have heard of people knockn on the elf amp saying it is a swap meet amp and would not purchase one of them for that reason but I think the Wetsounds and ARC amp are great.

I have a Hawgwired, kind of pricey but great. I recommended the ARC 4 channel to a friend of mine, for the price it's a great amp, blows mine away he has all 4 channels hooked up,(2 for fairing, 2 in saddle bag lid speakers) plenty of bass and all around good sound. BTW, I tried the shark in one of my cheap moments....all I have to say is you get what you pay for, the money would be better spent on a good dinner.

AMP Comparison

I went with J&M 7.25 speakers and amp which I am very happy with both. I was lucky to be able to listen to a couple of bikes locally with a couple of different set ups and am glad I went with J&M - IMO.

starting to see what you mean.

also couldn't find UBUY link.

the arc 125.2 BX sounds internesting, because of the bass boost feature.

the arc wiring harness however looks like a spicing style kit/maybe something not as sturdy as a plug in style

the DCS1202 (hawg wired) could be a truer unit, USA and all.
although, only 120 watt/4 ohm, about the same power as 250 watt unit at 2 ohm.

looked up an ohm chart, and it kinda implied running a 2 ohm capable amp at 4 ohm to ensure longevity.

maybe a quality 2 channel amp okay, since I don't think I have fade on my HK.

now just camp and wait for great deal.
