Help with wiring 6 speakers system.


need a little help putting a 6 speaker system in my RG, 4 in the front and 2 in the rear bags.
all running off a 4 channel 300 amp.

What I was going to do is hook 2 off the front speakers to the HD harness then run the other 4 off the amp.

any advice would be great, oh yeah head unit is after market sony marine unit.

all speakers and 4ohms

Best bet is all speakers off the amp. Better quality sound. 300 is a bit much I think...I use the Alpine KTP-445 amp (180w 4ch), with the Cycle Sounds lids holding the 6x9s.

That way I keep my storage. Plus the amp is tucked inside the fairing. There's no need to go so high on the amp wattage. You'll never need anything above 200w in my opinion. You're not bumping a car or truck system where you're gonna wanna impress the people 2 blocks over. Our systems are exposed, so you'll get to hear it on the high way no problem. I usually have my sound dial at 20-24 on the highway...And it's loud as hell at 80+mph. You won't hear your rear speakers if they're on the mounted on the inside facing the wheel and doubt if you would mounted on the front side facing forward much while on the road. I don't hear them unless I use the fader. Mine are on top for storage space and for the wife when we ride. She has no problem at 80mph hearing them.

So before you guys spend all that $ on amps and speakers, think about the actual amount of sound you'll hear. ARC, J&M, HawgWired, HOGTunes all are WAY over priced for what you get. If I could let everyone hear mine on the highway, I think you'd rethink alot of how much you spend vs me and the low wattage you actually need to have a kick ass system. I've been doin' stereos for probably 23yrs now. Bugs, trucks, low riders, etc.....I've blown out windows on cars before with my stuff. I've seen too many and worked for too many peeps who've oversold systems to guys/gals just cuz they had the money to spend. I like to save $$.

Sorry if I went on too long. But my $$ is really tight and I don't like seeing you guys spend an arm n a leg on stuff when u don't have to.

I agree with NakedSnowman. I was going to go the aftermarket motorcycle system (hawg-wired, J&M, biketronics speakers and amp) approach at first, but after seeing NakeSnowman's youtube video, I figured that I would go the route he took.

I have a system similar to his (without the 6x9s) and went with the Alpine head unit / KTP-445 amp / and 4 Polk Audio speakers. Definitely a strong system.

I had the head unit on my last bike and have never had a problem with it. The amp, speakers, and biketronics install kit came to under $500.

I'm saving up to by the CycleSounds lids and paint. I already have my Polk 6x9s from my last bike. I will say that there are some nice systems out there. But I believe that mine can stay with many of them that cost at least twice as much......
