New system help please

Now that I am getting a new bike with a stock stereo setup I need some help. I need a headunit, 2 channel amp and speakers. I am not going to do any more than 2 speakers. So, RF PBR 300x2 is what I will use for the amp.

My last RG had an Alpine headunit which was nice but not sure what to do here. I want to get a marine grade this time and would like something I can plug a data stick into or my ipod into but I usually use a data stick for my music. The Alpine ready the data stick great.

The tray in the sony unit is nice but not a necessity. I like the Alpine marine unit that I saw too but it costs a little more. What do you recommend? I much prefer to actually see the display in the sun too. That was my only issue with the Alpine.

I'm going to get the Hawg Wired tray and adapter. Now on to speakers. What do you recommend? I had Infinity Kappa's in the last bike and they were great but I still much prefer a marine grade as my bike WILL get wet. Are the MM651's a marine grade speaker? IF so I think I'll get them.

If you guys don;t mind posting up your system with likes and dislikes that would really help. I have been reading audio threads for hours and my head is spinning.

I have tried two different sony headunits. I tried the sony mex-bt3100p. I liked it alot because of the blue tooth and the pandora app but I couldn't see the screen during the day to save my life. It was only 126.00 so for the money it was great. I also had the Sony marine Sony DSX-MS60. It was great I could read the screen and my ipod could fit inside. I removed that for the sony mex-bt3100p. Which I wished I kept.

I didn't have any luck with the Biketronics crap and I swapped it out for the Hawg wired install kit and handle bar controls which work PERFECT!.

I had two PBR300x2 amps which worked perfect. Great price and great product.

Now for the speakers I have tried several and the best so far is the hawg wired ZX 6.5's . These things rock!!! Call Frank @ dragos for the best price.

Since then I have pulled my head unit out and swapped it for the Medallion Bagger Stereo System. This is water proof and works great. I don't have to worry about the rain or washing my bike.

As of right now I'm running an Alpine cde-143bt headunit, 4 polk DXI's, and a rockford 300x2 all in the fairing with hawg wired adapters and harness. The head unit has bluetooth with aux and usb on the front. I'm gonna keep this head unit but am gonna put in a pioneer avh-7500bt for around town, and will put my jbl ms-62c speakers once i get them warrantied. The polks work great espically since you can catch them on sale for $30-$40 at bestbuy.com. I love both setups. Just depends on how much you want to spend. Feel free to ask anything else.

I'd say shop the sensitivity listing, which will put you right back at the infinity kappas, if they need to be around $130 a set and the MM651's are about the same.

I've had neither, as I went with 4 speakers, which limits you to 4ohm selection, running off the 2 channel amp.

ZX are great, period, smooth output and rock and roll accurate.

The 4 I've had and run are polk db, HAT biketronics Titan II, ZX and Pioneer TS-G1644R

polk db's will be a huge dissapointment if you had the infinity's, way less potential, according to ratings, I still have a set, part of the issue is the lack luster crossovers, I ran the polk DB's with the hawgwired crossovers for a week and they were a much better speaker.

but if it had to be two, I'd say another set of kappas. MM series or ZX

As for the headunit, I recommend Kenwood KDC-x897. It has front & rear USB ports, CD, aux port, BT, pandora, Sirus, Remote, 22w RMS multi-color illumination options & more.

HW universal harness for handlebar controls & radio cradle.

HW speaker adapters if you plan on bumping up to 6.5 inner speakers.

Speakers & amps are personal preference..

Good luck..

Keep the recommendations coming. Audio is the first thing this bike will really need. Pipes, tuner and ac are already done on it.
