Looking to upgrade?

What I have is HD head unit, RF PBR300X2 and JM7252GTM. Thinking about putting some speakers in the inner fairing. They will need to be 2ohm speakers run in series. What would be good? Trying to get a little more bass. Would installing a PEQ help?

PEQ is designed to tweak adjust for road noise, I think it helps

as far as HighOutput 2ohm speakers, Kappa and MM seem to be some favorites

but, the output of the weakest speaker in the line is doubled

seems like the logical choice, the smaller magnets would require less trimming

they are sharp looking parts, the grills might be a little large, you can move out the lower fairing supports or find slimmer grills

the MM spl's are high also, around 93-94db - will make good use of energy

note on the PEQ: from installing one on each amp, the boost 12 or 18db goes hand in hand with how the crossover is setup

either HI only , HI and LOW , or LOW only

the LOW only boost cuts your high end off and I don't feel the amp really has enough power to run an open air LOWs

I installed 2 PEQ dials, left one treble, right one bass

with the HP filter set at 87Hz like I have mine, PEQ actually works as a treble boost for that amp, the sweet spot being about 60%, brings out the cymbals and vocals a little

not so much a boost, but a fine tune adjustment similar to a mid shift

I set the rear channel to full since the 5x7's can handle the lows without clippping, again at about 60% is the sweet spot, usually with the HAT speakers use it around 20-30% as a fall back point when the highs get too intense

as far as just getting LOW, I found that the HP crossover did help, because the speakers could travel more freely not having to try and reproduce the tones designed for 15" stadium speakers

actually sat there and watched the movement of the cones with and without the crossover, with the crossovers on, the cones were moving with the song perfectly, without the crossover, in AP mode the cones would bog and not get nearly as loud

I'd try the MM's - if I didn't already have something that works well, they're on my short list

Thanks, I will be getting with you for a mount for the amp when I get ready to start working on it. I have the amp on top of the head unit with Velcro for now.
