HK head unit question?

Does anyone know if there is any difference between a 2012 FLTRXSE head unit and a 2013 FLHX head unit? I know my SE has the I Pod in the bag, but I had some issues with the screen going blank. Buddie offered me his head unit out of his 2013 for nothing, and I will switch them out if it will work? Otherwise I need to send mine to Iron Cross.

They are the same from 2006 to 2013.

I have 2012 FLTRX and from what I've read, the units are the same, but may need flashed for certain options like rear speakers/fader and CB. I will find out eventually, since I plan to ad the CB and rear speakers to my bike.

At worst case, may require a dealer flash...I think

It should just need a flash to enable the extra features for the RGU

The screen going blank in a lot of cases is just a matter of cleaning and tweaking the contacts on the faceplate.

Mine would go blank intermittently during rides. A little cleaning of the contacts was all that it needed.

Warranty radios are refurbs. Almost better to fix the one he has, if it's just the contacts. Took me all of 1/2 hour including R&R the outer fairing.
