Scala G9 comms gear

I got the Scala G9 communications headset and tried it out this past weekend. Here is my review on this:

At 90Mph on the highway me and the other person was able to communicate no problem. We were both wearing open face 3/4 helmets, I was riding my RG and he was on a Dyna Wideglide (shorty windshield). We were using the larger boom mike cover.

The battery lasted for about 9hours and this was in 30degree weather and talking intermitently.

Range: I would say about 1/2 to 3/4 mile on the open road with other vehicles around us, and even once with 2 semis in between us. On the Dragons tail we would loose clear reception after about 4 turns away and complete loss after about 6 turns.

The bluetooth connects up to a bluetooth capeable phone real well, same with a GPS. Person talking on the other end said it was about like talking to someone with their car window down going down the highway, you can hear but there is some wind noise. Could hear them just fine.

We got the power pack that comes with 2 headsets (2 of everything including the wall chargers). The headsets come pre-connected to each other so there was no problems there. I don't know about connecting to more people at once, it says that it can connect up to 8 people in your group and still be able to pick up outsiders with any Scala model headsets.

Overall I would say that it was well worth the money and I would buy it again. I never realized how much nicer it is to be able to talk to the other rider when traveling.

I hope this helps anyone that is in the market for comms gear for their bike.

The only Con that I have found with this setup is that I wish it would have come with a car charger for the headsets. But it takes a standard micro-USB style charging cable so this isn't really a problem, just would have been nice for it to have come with one.

I've had my G9 Powerset for a couple of years now. I use mine every day in case I need to answer a call, and my wife and I use them when riding two-up. But we really bought them for cross-country rides. Four of us bought them, and they've worked great for us. Four guys talking all the way across the country. Anyway...

I just ordered 2 12-volt chargers tonight. Found them at motorcycle closeouts for $8.94 each plus shipping. Here's a link:

"The Ball & Chain" and I got the Cardo Q3 Teamset, for our Western Sport Tour and we love 'em!!!

Running the Cardos on Shark Evoline 3s ~ love them also!!!

If you position the speakers directly in your ears the Bluetooth sound is awesome!!

No negatives so far.

We won't leave home without 'em!!!

Got 'em from Revzilla.

Customer Service from both Cardo and Revzilla can't be beat!!!

I had the G4's and was very happy. Since my RGU came with a comms set, I went ahead and sold it to a buddy who was interested. If I do another trip back east next year, I will pick one up just to take calls. Time goes by nicely while chatting.
