Question SW6 Ride plans and help for planning the ride home

This post is intended to solicit thoughts and ideas (Troy and Co.) for the ride home after SW6. However, I will start with our current plans.
Charlotte and I will leave home on 7-21 riding with our 25yo son Rick on his Suzuki V Strom. We plan to ride mostly 2 lane through ILL, Mo, Ks, Ne, and cross Co on 14 through Roosevelt National Forest, then up through Wy to a cabin I have rented off of the Chief Joseph Hwy about 20 mi from Yellowstone's NE gate. We will arrive there Sun 7- 24 And our daughters and their friends will arrive tue 7-26. We will be KSU early Sun 7-31 riding solo, (hopefully) straight through to Stoney Nakoda. As of now, I have the room booked for Sun through Fri nights, but I'm now thinking about canceling friday and riding west to spend more time in the Canadian Rockies. I'm thinking about 2-3 days in Canada then making my way back towards Glacier Np because I can't imagine missing it on this trip. We will have the whole week after to find our way home.

So, I need route thoughts for the 2-3 days after SW, room ideas, sights not to miss etc.... Please include your thoughts on the routes back to Indiana also.

I am now officially obsessed with this trip! I can't wait

Day 1 ride from Stoney Nakoda to Nelson

Hello Dan,

Here is a route that you will really like, lots of scenery, not so much tourist oriented. This route take you on one free ferry crossing and a pretty cool little road between New Denver and Kaslo.

Day 2 ride from Nelson to Sedro-Wooley, WA

Here is the link to your second day ride taking you back into the U.S.

This is a beautiful ride of rock, trees and curves, the view at Osoyoos is spectacular, the lake straddles the border.

Day 3, Sedro-Wooley Wa. to Bonners Ferry Idaho

Washington 20 is a must ride if you are coming all this way and the most spectacular part is the western part in the Cascades.

This day will set you up to go over the Going to the Sun road the next day at about midday, when in August it will be the warmest.

Day 4, Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park

This day will take you from the mountains to the grasslands again. Going to the Sun road is really cool but not for the faint of heart especially west to east. You'll know why once your ride it.

Dan,

From Great Falls you can route southeast toward Sturgis and take a little of that extravagana in on the way home.

If I had the time I would do this ride with you to St Mary, MT

Be aware that Colorado hwy 14 from Sterling to Fort Collins is VERY long and boring. Nice road, but not much out there. Get as much gas in the tanks as possible before you leave Sterling because I'm not sure there's any more till you get to Fort Collins. Watch out for the oil company trucks and the plain white trucks watching after the missile silos.

On the other hand, Hwy 14 west of Fort Collins through the Poudre canyon is AWESOME, as is the rest of 14 and 40 all the way to vernal Utah. We ran that route 3 years ago on our way to SWIII, I don't remember any issues out that way.

Nobody could have drawn up a better, more scenic or fun motorcycle road. The route Calgaryglide suggests is an awesome & fun ride. And a added bonus is that you likely won't see a cop on the whole route. Good pick Calgaryglide
