powder coat your mirrors

Does any buddy no how to get your mirrors apart to powder coat, or will the glass hold up in the oven?

Subscribed. I've got a pair that I'd like to get re-PC'd

I've read that you need to heat up the glue and remove the glass then glue it back on after.

I'd like to hear from people that have actually done it / had it done.

I powdercoated a set last year and had to heat the back of the mirror with a heat gun to get the glue to release. Then cleaned/powdercoated and reapplied the mirrors. I used an aircraft grade sealant to reattach them (had some from work that the shelf life had expired)but I'm sure you can buy the same quality at an auto parts store......or maybe the 3M tape(??).

I doubt the glue that holds the mirror in place will hold up. They bake the powder somewhere around 400.

Black or chrome the mirrors paint up just fine without too much prep, and ya don't have to remove the glass
