New fender question...

Hope everyone is doing well. It's been a while since I posted on here. Life has just kept me busy. Anyway, I'm pulling the trigger on a True Kustom G2 rear fender. Here's the question, the funds currently will allow for only the fender and not stretched bags. I know myself pretty well and know that if I'm going to do it I had better do the fender now or the money will get spent elsewhere. So what do you guys think of running the fender with stock bags until end of summer probably? Might look a little funky but I can live with it for a while. Or worst case I can just not install it right away? Thoughts?.......

All the money bags will chime in and say it's not not gonna look right do it right the first time. I went opposite of you. I'm having my extended bags painted now and their going on with my stock fender till spring early summer. Who cares what others think go for it.

Kinda what I'm leaning towards. But I do like hearing other peoples info. I've got a '47 Chevy that constantly "under construction" that'll be done at some point in the distant future but my bike is a different story, always looks sharp on the road. Just here getting input from everyone.

I LOVE the True Kustom G2 fender, especially with the sequencing turn signals..... I probably would do both together, but unless somebody's putting up the $$, its your bike, get it while you can and see how it looks to you.

If it's a part that you know you want then buy it and put it on a shelf before the money gets alway from you and you have to cut corners later. I've never seen a bike with a custom fender and stock bags but I've seen the reverse and didn't care for it. The other issue is that have a shop do body work a piece at a time is going to cost you more in the long run. They usually give you a break for work that's done all at the same time.

Richie Rich, that's a good point on the possible discount to have it all done at once.

Does anyone have any pics of this set up, fender with stock bags?

The finances will ultimately determine but like I said, I like the input.

I'm not one of the money bags lax referred to lol. Personally I'd get the bags first if you're sure which ones you want. At least you could make use of the extra space. I would love to have either and plan to eventually do the damn thing. Anyway incase you'd like to see the fender with stock bags here's a clip. Like dbell said it's a great looking fender.

It looks like your bike is Big Blue Pearl as well, you will need to start saving for the paint materials as well.
1 pint of the special effect color is $300 from PPG as a "factory order only" from the their Cleveland plant.

A pint is almost not enough to shoot a stretched bags and fender set, and a quart will give you more than enough to do your inner fairing at a later date.

The good part is that the pearl layer just goes over vivid black
