DIY painting

Decided to try my hand at DIY painting since Ive wanted a painted inner for forever. Went to a PPG supplier and had the paint mixed (aerosol). This stuff is the ONLY way to go when painting on these. IDENTICAL match!!

Sweet! Looks great, Venomized!
So, you can get the PPG paint codes and have it mixed into an aerosol ?!
Like enough to paint an inner fairing in kandy orange?

Yes I can! The fascia was pre primed from Harley so all i did was hit it with some 400.grit sandpaper and wiped it down with a lightly wet paper towel with alcohol then once dry tack clothed it and shot a dust coat. Let it tack for 20-30 mins then 2 more light coats with 30 min dry time between the 2. After letting dry for 1 hour I cleared it with 3 coats of clear with a dry time of 15 mins between them.

The nacelle and bezel was raw plastic so i hit it with 400 grit paper then alcohol like the fascia then tack cloth again. I hung it and hit it with a coat of Dupli-color CP199 adhesion promoter and followed my same procedure as the fascia with base coat and clear.

YES! Mine were 27 bux a can including tax. The 3 stage like candy orange and BBP are more expensive. I only got one and did the nacelle, bezel and fascia and still have about a 1/4 of a can left. Going to get 2 more for the inner fairing.

Thanks for the quick reply I have the necessary supplies, I just need to bite the bullet and do my inner fairing hope it turns out as good as your items!

Take your time and prep it right and it will.

I built a home paint booth to do mine so i could keep dust and particle out and to a minimum in the booth.

I had a paint supply store match my 05' Chopper Blue. They make a quart of it($100.00) and then for $8 a can they'll take it from the quart a put into a can. Quart makes about 8 spray cans. Then their is an automotive clear in a can. It has puncture nozzle on the bottom to mix the hardening catalyst. Finish comes out awesome.

Definitely looks good. I don't have enough confidence to do something like this, lol.
