Extended bags and dragging

Can anyone tell me how much you can extend stock saddlebags before they start to drag in the corners? I want a better look, but function is my top priority...looking pretty and not being able to get low into corners won't do me any good.

Hoping to go more than 4". Thinking 6 or 8 but only if it doesn't change the way I ride.
Thanks.

You will be lucky to keep 4" extensions off the ground if you like to ride it...I have 4" and I made my own skid plates...and I'm glad I did cause the 1st rattle out of the box they hit the pavement. They hit before the floorboards do!

Well that's disappointing! Ha!
Good to know though.
Is this the same experience that everyone else is having?

Stock 04, btw. not lowered, etc.

4" and your good, have run them on many many many bikes.......very rarely do I hit my skid plates, but, I drag floor board brackets (and mufflers) regularly

If you wanted to go more than 4" you can get something like the DirtyBird Top Shelf Setup with the corners clipped. Same deal with TopShop

Just my $.02 but then again I have a big wheel so.......it's not bad getting in and put of the trailer .

Good ain't cheap, cheap ain't good.......

Yeah drug the 4"s on my SG on both sides, even with the homemade air ride jacked up. The floorboards drag first on my RG with CVO bags, but I'm sure the bags ain't far behind. Somebody makes a 4" bag with the outer edge beveled which would help some.

Yep. Drag mine to. Whatever, it's just the price you have to pay to play.
