Microscratches Eliminated

Since my bike was new, it has had the fine microscratches that were very noticeable in direct sunlight.

Last week I decided to see if I could eliminate them without abrasives. I washed the bike, and put on a coat of Liquid Glass, which is a polish and sealer. Following the directions, I put it in the sun for a few hours to bake. Then I blew off the dust, cleaned it up and put on a second coat and baked it again. Then I put on two coats of Meguiars Ultimate and no (and I do mean no) microscratches are visible at all. I told a buddy about this and he tried it on his 2011 RG CVO and got the same results.

The black paint looks like glass now and I didn't have to buff into the clear coat. I'm sure some will come back over time but at this point all I will have to do is clean it up and put on a coat of Meguiars which I do a couple of times a year anyway.

Just using Liquid Glass or Meguiars alone won't do it. They have to be used together. I discovered this when trying to work out the same problem on my truck. The dealer had put on some type of protective coating and the black paint looked like nothing but red scratches in the sunlight. I was pissed when I discovered it (I won't buy another vehicle on a cloudy day). Their solution was to send it to a body shop and buff it. That cuts into the clear coat even more. So I tried this method and only used one coat of liquid glass. The scratches were the same. With Liquid Glass you still have to apply wax. LG is a sealer and quickly loses its ability to bead water. You also get a lot of water spots in it it you don't wax as I found out on the bike. So applied the LG, baked it that afternoon and then waxed the next day. So long micro scratches. The paint is now smooth and reflective like it should be. Water beads and runs right off.

One of the 2, or both, of the products you used must have had some fillers in them. I don't use those products so I don't know. The micro marring is still there but the fillers hid them.
Micro marring most of the time comes from washing and drying. Using quality microfiber products helps, along with an electric leaf blower to dry the bike.
My bike is vivd black and it is the softest paint I have ever worked on. If you look at it the wrong way it would mark the paint. This past weekend, I polished and put a ceramic coating on it. Now when I wash it I am touching the coating and not the paint.
