Harley Factory Primered Parts & Paint

I posted this on another forum that I belong to, and got some good answers, but I thought I'd do the same here looking for others experiences.
I have a brand new OEM HD Tour Pak, primered from the factory. This is an 09-13 model. I want to know if anyone here has ever painted directly over this factory primer, or did you prep it? If so, what kind of prep did you have to do?
I've gotten answers from shoot it with plastic adhesion promoter & paint it, to scuff it, re-primer it, and shoot it. I'm sprayimg it with JD BLITZ black, which I've used before, & the stuff sticks to just about anything.
Any input is appreciated.

You can wet sand with 800 and get away with it but I also epoxy prime as a sealer on everything I paint just for piece of mind that there won't be issues down the road.

I think I'm good to go. I've got the one spot on the back of the pak where I patched up the antenna holes, & I need to primer over that spot. I also bought some Bulldog adhesion promotor that I'll be using prior to paint.

If the tour pack came already primed I would not use the adhesion promoter. Depending on the type of primer it could possibly cause lifting

Thanks mocotom. I have been wondering the same thing, being that the adhesion promoter is generally used for bare plastic. The primer that's on the tub and lid are factory Harley primer. These parts are brand new, unpainted, and came straight from the factory with their primer on them. What I'm thinking I have to do is just finish up the patch job where the antenna holes are, primer over that (since it's plastic repair and body filler), scuff that primer to a smooth surface, clean with soap & water and a wax & grease remover, and squirt the Blitz Black. Like I wrote above, I've used the Blitz Black before on my old tour pak, which was originally vivid black. I scuffed the clear coat on it, prepped it, and squirted it. It turned out pretty nice.
I think the Blitz Black will stick to the factory primer without a problem. After all, JD says it can be sprayed directly on plastic.

Go over the factory primer with a wet gray scotchbrite, wipe clean with "Spra-Way" glass cleaner to keep static down, tac rag and paint away, you won't any issues putting the JD black over it.
The primer they use is good stuff and you won't need adhesion promoter at all.

Thanks RoadHawg. I've searched all over the net for answers on this & there is nothing to be found. The way I look at it, HD paints directly over this primer so why couldn't I? I'm anxious to get this pak done & on the bike. The only thing I may do differently when I paint this time is add a little bit of hardner. I didn't use any last time & the difference in the factory paint & the BB was barely noticeable. Supposedly the hardner adds just a bit more sheen. It's separated from the rest of the factory painted parts enough so it looked almost spot on.
