You could tweak the bath and relieve the plating to the underplate, usually nickel and make an antique finish (not like antiquein brass), this plating on plating, so with even like blk Ni over gold you could dupe antique Au....

Answer: no, not being true micro-discontinuious chrome, but it does throw nice and mostly trivalant charged, kinda not an element, though the

I do suspect these new forever finishes are superior, those are million dollar chambers they are using. Most of the vendors to plating shops in my days didnt get past plating 101.
