Black vs Chrome Durability?

So the guys with a 2018 RGS or CVO how is the black parts, lowers...exhaust..wheels, holding up?

Both chrome and the blacked-out parts are just a covering. They're probably going to hold up the same. With black you can easily see every flaw so it might appear to age quicker.

Both require care to retain the finish. You can use harsher chemicals on chrome.

Black gloss powdercoat is soft and shows swirls easily. Went back to chrome

Looking at the new 2019 RGS but they all are blacked out.

Nothing I've had blacked out lasted half as long as chrome. It I would fix it with a sharpie.

my blacked out engine covers are still fine 5 years later. now, the highway peg mounts and the crash bar? not so much. I think those being so close to the road and the elements, they get blasted and become very dull.

I've become very accustomed to ABS. That's one option a FLTRX would have to have.
