Too much of a liability for me. Cutting thru the clear on a BMW and Im on the hook for it??? Id be in the poor house getting it resprayed
When I had my 2012 Skunk I bought an unpainted king TP and had a painter in Sorrento, FL paint it to match my bike. He came highly recommended and when I showed up to get the TP I was amazed at how well he matched the Starfire Black and White Gold Pearl right down to the ghost smoke that was airbrushed. Then as I looked close I noticed the TP looked better or cleaner if you will. He had wet sanded the clear and buffed it and it was absolutely flawless and a glass like finish. No orange peel what so ever. From then on I wanted to wet sand the rest of the bike to match the TP but never got up the nerve. A friend did teach me how to use clay so I would do that once a year or so just to get rid of all the little crap and it would feel super smooth afterwards. I have just started watching videos on how to wet sand because I would like to make my vivid black on my new bike smoother. After reading this I may just leave well enough alone.

When you go to a quality painter you will get more clear then what the factory puts on, therefor wet sanding is not a big deal. Its the factory clear you have to be careful with. Factory clear is about as thick as a Post-It

Thats cheap, real cheap. Takes me 8-10 to do a bike, longer if Im coating it. Hell the coating coast me $130 + MF towels that get thrown away. If I used a sealant it would be more then that and Im in the cheap ass south.

Philly ...I wound up buying F 11 on a recommendation, $60.00 I shelled out for it. Now I have to use it till its finished or the bride would have a field day with me.
The detailer here does all the bikes at Ocean State Harley Davidson. The staff there could not say enough about him. Buff, wax, engine, tires rims and seat. like I said, Showroom Condition.

Ray, if your happy that's all that matters. I mean that with all sincerity.

I have worked behind "Cheap" detailers. What I have found is not good. Took me 16 1/2 hrs to fix what a "Detailer" did to a 5 series BMW. Dam car had 11,000 miles on it and looked like absolute hell after I stripped the crap off of it that was applied. The owner knew something was up after the first time the car got wet.

Not saying that this guys work is good or bad at all. But their are plenty of ways to hide stuff so owners think "WOW". High quality work takes time, and time is money. Quality products cost money.

Hey Philly! Have you ever used or heard about chemical guys blacklight sealant gloss? One of the guys I ride with from time to time uses it and swears it's the holy Grail, but I am not so easily convinced, I rather hear your expert opinion.

When all else fails, hell there is always beer!

I have a bottle of it and tried it on a couple of cars. Its ok, nothing special really. I bought it for customers that don't want to spend for the full correction.
I never new how long the sealant would last on top of it though, so I stopped using it
Blacklight is a hybrid, glaze, and sealant. Its nice to work with. Its for the guy that doesn't want to go full on paint correction and isn't worried about longevity of the LSP. Fills pretty good for dark colors.
My experience with it is with cars which see a lot more of the elements then bikes do. It adds a little gloss because of the glaze.

Not a bad product at all. I don't have the customers that want this type of product though, not enough for me to keep it in my stash.

OK/good product depending what the goals are.

I gotta admit, that the main reason (other than worrying about screwing it up) I havenít tried a coating yet is they last too long. Being in upstate NY I get enough bad weekends and I enjoy the polishing and sealing now so I like to do it. If I went with a coating it wouldnít need it nearly as often and just a quick detail spray isnít as much fun. As long as I do the better halfís bike before mine Iím allowed to leave the much more undesirable honey do list untouched on the counter.
