Did all my prep work on Saturday and then painted a set of latch covers and my Sanchos Wings today. (Windshield is next).
I picked up a set of used latch covers that were blue so it was just a scuff and shoot. Everything was painted using aerosol cans of Base, Mid-Coat, and Clear Coat from "Color Rite". The picture of the latch cover doesn't do it justice. It is a dead on match. The Sanchos Wings didn't match up as well, but still look pretty good. I did the orange on one side and black on the other side.
The only thing I did different on the wings was I started with scuffing the plastic with 600 grit, and then cleaned and sprayed with "Fusion" plastic paint from Ace Hardware first. Then used the same Base, Mid, Clear combo. The Color Rite paints were just shy of $100 shipped to the house, but I have plenty left over for future items I might decide to paint. I was a little surprised at how well the areosol cans from Color Rite worked out. Not having to clean my compressor paint gun after a 3-coat process was a welcome change.
