Dumbfounded by this.

We all know based on the reports that I got on my heart I bought the trike. And I'm good. All settled in to it. So in the last 11 days I've spent 7 in the hospital. And still have minimum of 3 more. This is mainly due to infection. Not heart function. Today he swapped out the ICD and cleaned out the entire pocket. Just before the surgery he said I'm not out of the woods yet. We may have to remove all the wiring too. That's major surgery. But what he said next completely fucked me up. And I've not questioned it.

He said if we take it all out he may not put it back in. My heart is very strong. But he said he'd have to think long and hard about it.

I just fucking got rid of my dream bike. And now that seems to not have needed to happen. What a mind fuck.

I already told the old lady. If he says the defibrillator is not needed. I'm trading her trike in on a RGS and she can have my Freewheeler. she was silent. But fuck! What am I supposed to think here. I'm confused.

Now before we trash my Doctor. This guy is the doctors doctor. No one is rated higher. And the care he is giving me now makes me believe I have the best doctor for what's going on.

WOW, that is a mind F**K! What about the reports that it went off previously...inaccurate? Sure hope this gets right for you and you heal up quickly. Sounds like a day in the wind is what "the Dr" ordered! Take care!

I know what you are going through. I had a heart episode 4 years ago when my heart got stuck in high Afib. My heart was pumping at 180bpm. This basically weakened my heart and put me into heart failure. Drove myself to the hospital as I just did not feel right and a team of doctors all decided that I needed a new heart and were calling in the airlift crew to fly me to a heart transplant facility. They had me fly my wife in (I work in Michigan and she was in Florida) "as it was time". I looked at them all and tell them I am not being flown anywhere. From the back of the room a Dr. I have not seen before, walks up and tells everyone else that I am not going anywhere and he will have me fixed in two days. Two days later, I am being discharged from the hospital.

The new Dr. figured since I am in above ave shape, and that it was a trigger event more than damage that caused the heart failure, that I should be able to recover with the right mix of meds. Needless to say, he ended up being correct. There were talks of defibrillators, pacemakers, ablations, and all sorts of things to "make me function better". In the end, he told me to just trust the meds, trust how I feel, and DO NOT REST. Get up every morning and do something, and get my heart working more and more each day.

Its been 4 years and I am nearly fully recovered. My heart is now functioning just below normal and they say it will never function normal again. I am now in persistent Afib, and honestly, I can't tell anymore and I rarely ever think about it.

The whole reason for telling you this is because things change. Dr's are now rethinking about the over use of heart equipment as there have been great strides in some of the new meds to correct abnormal heart function. I am not saying we are in the same situation or have the same issues, but to just keep an open mind and always keep fighting. By your picture, you look a little on the weak side so this may be difficult for you. :-) JK

I wish you all the best, and hope you keep your spirits up. Trike or RG, just get out there and enjoy the wind in the face.

Be strong!

Man, that's rough.. With his credentials, it would be nice to have blind faith, but... damn.

I learned to always get a second opinion when I had a doctor want to do thoracic surgery on me. I had a stroke during a humpty dumpty surgery. My sister recognized the symptoms, doctors wouldn't acknowledge the fact until she crawled up their ass and they did a scan. Their initial goto was thoracic surgery, fucking VA. I was high as a kite for a period of 2 years, so I was "ok".
Family said, "no way".

I went outside the VA for second opinion and they couldn't reverify the findings. Stroke free for 13... Hell, I'm getting a beer.

At the time, it might have been the right call to stick the electronics in you, now he's seeing something different. Run with the good news and enjoy the ride. You won't want your bars back.. will you.......?

You're right. And if I decide to stay on 3 wheels. It was my decision. No one else's.

Damn brother, that is a head fking to say the least. But it sounds like he is The Man and is truly looking out for your future. Sadly our motorcycle obsession is not shared by all, and I am sure he didn't mean for you to make drastic decisions on motorcycles that you own. The Dude upstairs has a master plan, and it sounds like yours is living long. I look forward to reading of your new RGS.

Get healthy as you can sort out the bike stuff latter. You can always get attached to another dream bike . Year and a half ago the VA doc said I had cancer it was for sure. Told him we would finish out ride and see him when we got back. Told my wife I was not doing anything until it was sorted out turns out he was mistaken.
You may learn to enjoy that trike .
