Question about stok HK head unit speaker level input to XTP Amp

I've got the 500W channel XTP amplifier with 4 Rokker XX speakers, 2 in the front, and 2 in the saddlebag lids.

When the dealer flashes the HK head unit to activate Fader controls there also Balance control?

I'd also like to know if sound quality is better if I follow the stock head unit speaker output with a line level convertor and use J&M's "preamp" amp input setting, or if feeding the stock speaker level output to the amp with "speaker" amp input setting is just as good. In the end, it depends on the quality of the level conversion performed by the amp, versus a 3rd party circuit providing the function. Appreciate any experienced opinions.

Ken

McGruder,,,,,

NO balance control option on the 2006-2013 Harley HK radios ,,,,,

the line level RCA input adapter is already included with your J&M 500w ROKKER XTP amp kit ,,,,, as the only inputs to that amp are the RCA lines ,,,,,

have you got it ROKKIN yet ? ,,,,,,,

Yes, I got it all hooked up and working nicely. In all honesty I had a small issue with tripping the fuse, because I reused the power line from the previous J&M amp, which was a 20 amp fuse. I needed to upgrade to a 25 amp fuse, and all was good.

A big improvement in sound quality, this amp gives over my previous J&M amp that powers 2 performance series speakers u front. More bass response out of the Rokker XX 7.25 speakers in the front without breaking up. I added the damping material to the inner fairing too. I also think the fill in from the rear Rokker XX 5"x7"'s in the lids bring the same pitch sound to the sides of my head which is a different kind of improvement in both volume and more clear sound, considering the open air conditions and stage 4 engine noise.

I'm very happy with the whole setup. I'll get the flash for fade control taken care of next service, when I get new fluids, brake pads and tires for a trip along the Susquehana River in PA, through the Catskills and the Adirondack mountains, throughs, New Hampshire, along the St Lawrence Seaway on to Quebec City and Montreal. Can't wait, I'll be jamming the whole way!
