OEM Tire ???

Guys, can anyone tell me if Dunlop D408F are OEM tires fir 2016 RGS? I have owned 5 different Harley over the years and have rode 10s of thousands of miles and I have never rode on a set of tires like these. The ass has kicked out a handful of times and the front has slid a few times all while turning or on a curve. I bought my bike used with little miles on it but I am not sure if the original owner swapped tires when he PC the rim. If these are oem what tire recommendations do you have for replacing them. I'm not gonna ride with the fear of losing grip on every corner or curve. Thanks for your help!!

Do they have the HD bar and shield on the sidewall? If so, they are most likely OE...I just bought the dunlop elites..Ill know better how they ride hopefully tomorrow when I pick up...I hate hard squirrely tires!!! be careful out there!!

Yes they have Harley Davidson on the side so it leads me to believe they are OEM. just was looking at the Elites online as well as Metzlers. Hate to swap tires with 4K miles on them but also don't care to leave a bunch of skin on the asphalt either. Let me know on those elites when you get a chance to try them out. Thanks

A quick search will turn up all kinds of opinions on which tire is the best. IMHO I've been running the Dunlop American Elite II's for the last 3 years. I got 30 k out of the first pair and am 10 k into the second pair without hardly any wear noticeable. I love the ride and longevity of these tires as well as the price!

Go with the Michelin Commanders. Best tire on the market. I had Dunlop's on my 07 rkc new tires lasted 7000 miles, switched to met 880 they lasted 8000 used them again 8000 miles. When to commanders 13000 miles. Just swapped out the tires again for new commanders. The are smooth and handle very well under all road condition within reason. Motorcycle Superstore.com

Previous owner didn't happen to ArmorAll them, tread and all, did he? Stock Dunflops suck for irregular tread wear, but I never had a set want to kick out on me. I run 18/19 rims and HD Dunflops were all that were available in the right load range for a while. Got a set of Elites last fall and like them so far.

I'm not 100% on the armour all but I have had the bike for awhile and put over 2000 miles myself on the bike so I would think the armour all would have worn off by now. The tires look great and the tread is great, just can't figure out what is causing these to be so slippery.

oem for the front is a d408. oem for the rear is a d407. looking at the dunlop web site, they don't even show a d408 fitment for the rear.

i got 20k on the stock tires and when they were worn, i went with the american elites. have 10k on them so far and are very pleased with them.

I understand the concept of reality, but find it too confining for a way of life.
