Front Wheel Bearings

2016 Road Glide Ultra. OEM wheels and bearings.
I've searched the posts on the forum here and can't find a single post about front wheel bearings.
While I was changing my front tire yesterday, I noticed the front wheel bearing, right side makes a grinding noise. I believe this was an issue with the 2009 - 2012 models, but has the problem come back?
I think I can change them myself but it's just a matter of the local shops having these parts on hand. I'm setting out on a three week ride this week and don't have time to have the bike sit in que at a dealer for a month or so.

OK, I checked with the local Harley shop. They have the bearings and it would be covered under warranty because the bike is less than 2 years old (per service manager). How long would it take if I brought the bike down there today? My concern is that I'm leaving on a three week tour this coming Thursday. Ummm, I might be able to have the bike back to you by then. OK, I'll just buy the bearings and do it myself at my expense. Will it void the warranty if I replace them myself? No, it shouldn't.
I drive to the Harley shop. 2016 RGU front wheel bearings. Parts guy looks in the book, goes to the back and comes back out with three boxes. I say, "Three bearings?" Yeah, book shows three bearings. That's odd, I thought it only needed two, an ABS sensor bearing and a standard. I rely on his expertise and buy the three. I get home and look in my book again. Yep, shows three bearings; a standard bearing on the right side of the wheel and an ABS OR a standard bearing on the left.
Some folks wonder why I have it in for dealers.
Yeah, I called the store manager and told him about it. Not that the extra bearing broke my bank, but just the consistent wrong support from these guys.

The Richmond Harley dealer by exit 89.
I'm getting the bike ready for 3 weeks on the road starting this coming Thursday. I noticed the bearing noise when I put the new front tire on. Not enough time to find the upgrades and have them shipped to me and to install them before Thursday.
I'll look at that when I get back in August.

You have a parts book? Should have went in with the part numbers in hand. Makes for a less stressful life!

But then what would we post about?

CBR Bearings 1-800-769-5388 is where I buy all of mine, and they know specific motorcycle applications, and provide the appropriate seals. They sell no Chinese junk, all of their inventory is made in USA or Japan.
