warped front rotors

I have just been told by my dealership that both of my front rotos and both sets of brake pads need to be replaced due to the rotors being warped.

My bike has only 12,000 Km (7000 miles) .

dealer says they are not covered on warranty.

are these crappy discs made in China, and what are your thoughts on this?

My bike has over 50,000 + miles on it and both my rotors are fine.

I use my gears with some braking to slow down.

How about you.

Not uncommon for them to warp , but I would think they should be warranty items provided you still are under warranty , dont know about that where you are tho' ..

Does the front end almost get snatched out when you apply the brakes ?

My fronts warped and I replaced them with floaters

FYI 2016 RGS stock disks are floating disks. Make sure the dealer also checks wheel bearings & alignment. Both can cause brake drag which can cause overheating & then warping.

Mine warped the 2 ride I took on them. Went to Bike Week and bought new wheels, pads, and rotors. No more cheap Harley parts.

Don't know about the OP, but I gear down as well. Had a sudden stop on a new bike as I wasn't paying enough attention to traffic trying to learn the new Rushmore stuff on the bike. Only 2nd ride and the rotors warped. Dealer was useless.

I'm light on the brakes, but my 09 rotors warped. I replaced with HD floaters. My 15 with 21K has been fine so far. I've read that you should release the brakes at a stop to avoid hot spots.

Gear down while stopping or rev match and engine brake. Either will help with reducing brake heat. You should also avoid hard stops and holding the brakes immediately after you come to a stop. As previously stated, that’s how you get hot spots and warping.

My 13’ has about 8500 on stockers and they’re smooth as all hell.

Best,
Nick

Floating rotors, 2-piece rotors do help dissipate heat better. Haven't warped mine since I put matching floating rotors with my 21" front wheel

HD saves about $100 for each bike they put the cheap rotors on. It's all about the bottom line.
