Tire time, on an '05 FLTRi

Searched the forum, and read MANY posts regarding the Michelin Commander IIs, and the Dunlop Elite 3, but much of what I've read, was on newer bikes/frames

I ditched the OEM 402 as soon as I could, and went with Metzler Marathons..darn things wore out in about 8k
Switched to the Dunlop Elite 3s, and got inproved wear, and handling... kept using them until the Commander IIs came out, and decided to roll the dice. AGAIN an improvement over the Dunlop E-3s... so I've kept with them.

I've been reading about the Dunlop American Elites, and am wondering... if anyone has any REAL world experience with them on the older frame.
Comparing tires on an '05, with tires on a '18 is a waste of typing.

So if you've had either the E-3, or the C-2 on a TC-88 frame, and now have the AE, please share your thoughts.
I know "why change what works"... and yeah, I have kept my old turd... with it's 150,xxx miles.... but hey, I am not afraid to improve the beast

Thanks in advance

Very Happy with the AE...had Metz and C-II before and the AE in my opinion provide are better. Will be sticking with the AE.

I had both the Dunlap and Michelin Commander II on my 2007 ultra classic. I preferred the Commander II. Better wet performance from my experience. Had 78,000 miles when I traded in my 07.

American Elite

2011 custom, got 23,000 on stock Harley Dunlops. Put on AEs and got 29,500 with 3/32" left. Just put on AEs again. I've got no complaints. Wet driving I don't worry about. Doesn't rain in Vegas, just downpours.

I am on my second set of the Dunlops AE and great tire, great grip, my buddy put them on his 06 street glide and said they blow the stock tires away in ride handling and performance. He has 8k on them and going strong.

When all else fails, hell there is always beer!

D402's on my 08. I put Commander II on the bike and they cracked, I posted a thread on the cracked CM II so do a search and you can see the pics. So after discovering the cracks in the CM II tires and they were big cracks in the base of the tire not the side walls I went back to the Dunlop D 402 and I haven't had any issues with them. I get 15,000 plus on the rear tire and 30,000 plus on the front so I can't complain. Also I think that the CM II didn't handle as good on wet roads as the D 402 tires did but that's JMO.
