My rear Shinko 777HD was $129 mounted and balanced, with me removing and replacing the wheel. I cannot tell any difference at all in the ride with this tire vs the original Dunlop, that got a hole in it and had to be replaced. Been riding on Shinkos for years.

Find an independent shop that mounts tires, usually much cheaper than going through a HD dealer. Mine charges $20 per wheel, mount and balance, if you bring the wheel and tire in. I do this when I get lazy, but usually M&B them myself.

Check tires before every ride, replace when they get to the tread wear indicators, if not before. Riding past them is false economy. Tires are the only thing between you and a severe case of road rash, or worse.

I just paid 330 for front and rear AEs. 88 per to install. So 490. I was happy with that. I did buy them on Amazon and dropped them at the dealer.

Just put the Michelin C2 on the front and back. Purchased through https://www.bikebandit.com/tires-tub...36090?m=158132. I had the dealership remove and install the rear for $120 and I brought them the front and had it mounted and balanced for $35. Youtube the rear wheel removal. I know you can do it. The front was stupid easy... For $350 you can do both. Well maybe not if you run the Dunlops. Something to think about...

Pig Trail HD or neither of the local Indys here will do carry ins. They claim there's too much liability (which we can all call BS on - we know it's because they want the profit from the tire markup).

Check out Heritage Indian Motorcycle of NWA...I believe they will do carry-in.

Some folks seek the comfort of the straight and narrow. Me? I prefer the twisted road.

Hmm, that's a thought. I've been by their dealership a few times when we were bike shopping for the Mrs.

I never even considered them.

So I had planned on replacing my front and rear OEM Dunlops before heading to Denver in July. But I was up under the back end earlier today and found a 3" long slit in my rear tire. The tread has been thinning and the wear bars are clearly visible but I was trying to squeeze a few more miles out of the tire, until I found the damage. Likely the result of my road home that the county has tore up fixing to put down some new pavement in June.

Since the Dunlop AE is generally well respected around here and other bike forums, figured that's the way I'm going. Called both of the local Indy's at lunch and they both want $370 - $390 for the rear tire mounted and balanced.

Hence the "ouch"....

And of course neither will install a carry in tire so I'm at their mercy (or at the stealership's mercy).
I just had my rear tire put on also, and the dealers out here in KC won't let you bring in just the rim also, however you can purchase the tires elsewhere get em shipped to your house and then have a shop put them on, I purchased Michelin Commander II Rear, rented trailer from Uhaul (rear tire of bike was flat), towed it into the dealer, they will change rear tire on the bike for 60 bucks, total cost of Rear tire + Uhaul + Tire Mount = $290.00, good luck man I'm sure you'll find a way.

Ok, so quick update. Dropped my bike off earlier. Indy convinced me to try the MICHELIN C2. He is installing front and rear, plus installing my new brake pads front and rear for $649 all in.

I'm feeling like I got a good deal. Not so much a pitty party any more

Yep. That looks pretty good. When you total up the cost of the pads and install time. Good. Hope you like the Michelins.

Just had a rear stock Dunlop put on mine during the 25k service. Talk about an OUCH. My dealer gives everyone 20% off list of the tire if you have it mounted there. I normally carry my rim in and save 1/2 the labor so I come out to right about $310 for a rear installed.

Now the big OUCH part. Rushmores don't have grease fitting for the steering head bearings. Part of the 25k service. Tear them apart, inspect and repack then put it all back together. Just shy of 3 hours added to the bill.
