Need a little help.. 17 wheel to a 12 RGU
ok, installing a set of wheels from a 2017 RG onto a 2012RGU. Everything I have read, says its a direct bolt on, as long as both are ABS... well, when I tighten the axle nut, it pulls the left fork inward, pushing the caliper/brake pads into the rotor... therefore the wheel will not turn... put the stock wheel on, and the wheel turns .... ????
and yes, I've searched through the threads..

Are the 2012 41mm or 49mm. The wheel may be a bit thinner to accommodate fork diameter. Just a thought, I honestly don't know.
dumb question, are you putting the wheel on facing the correct way?
are you following the 2012 method of installation, or the 2017?

The way your describe the situation says to me that there is a dimension change of some kind.
Check the center to center distance between the brake discs on the stock 2012 wheel vs the same distance between the brake discs on the stock 2017. It sounds to me like there might be a difference.
This is how HD would make the newer wheels/disc combination non compatible with older models.
Measure twice, cut once!

What spacers are you using? That could make a difference also.

the 2017 uses the same spacers as the 2012, so there is no reason why there should be any problem with it fitting.

Ok. I wasn’t sure about that.
I know a rear wheel from a 2012 bolts right up to a 17 because I’ve done it. Not 100% sure about front though.
