Question Wobble in front on 2012 RGU

Help, things going pretty good with my new (to me) 2012 RGU, when I took both hands off bars to adjust glasses and have a horribly bad front wheel wobble. Any ideas what this might be? Thanks, MP

Its a scenario that has been discussed at length on all the forums.

First bit of advice is to keep your hands on the bars.

Some have found that tightening the steering head bearing helps.

But mostly its the geometry of the bikes, and no motorcycle company will take responsibility for what happens when your hands arent on the bars.

Loose steering head bearings.... Easy to diagnose as well. Get the bike up and level on a lift with the front wheel off the ground. Move the bars to one side and let go. They should only swing one or two times. Any play detected in any direction indicates looseness. Any "notchiness" felt in turning the bars while lifted is indicative of needing replaced.

Mine did the same. 1. Make sure front tire has a high speed balance. 2. "Tighten head bearing like said above, mine was loose.

Thanks, guys. I apologize if I missed the info on the site, but thanks again for the quick help. I'll be at my dealer tomorrow. MP

Any chance it's buffeting? On my 2011 RGU, I got a lot of wind buffeting.

My 12 Ultra did the same thing at slower speeds between 40 and 50 but was fine and never wobbled at higher speeds. Bike was brand new at the time and took it to dealer twice to get it checked out and they did whatever adjustments and tightening but still had the hands off wobble at slow speeds afterwards. Heard it was a common issue with Road Glides back then and decided not to let it bother me and continued riding many miles without any problems

Like I said, its mostly the geometry of the bike, and it was not designed to be ridden with without hands on the bars.

2012 RGU Wobble resolved!

Wanted to update yall and say thanks for help (yes, even the sarcasm made me feel like I was still working.) Took my RGU to the dealer and thankfully they were able to immediately duplicate the wobble issue at 50mph. It took them most of a day, three mechanics, and swapping a new wheel/tire combo from another 2012 they had at the store to eliminate everything but my 2011 date stamp" front tire. Replaced my front tire and wobble eliminated. Thanks again, RGU newbie, MP
