Gngraham The irony of visiting IA (last years SW destination) because I could not make this years SW destination was not lost on me. Who knows, may visit Utah next year...

Did go through Potosi, but the brewery was closed...

Had breakfast in Prairie Du Chein....

river ride

I prefer prairie du chien for a place to stay as there is more to do at nite. Its all good a great time to go is October for colors but get a reservation if going on the weekend. The lansing bluff and the overlook at rushford are a must, stumpys in rushford is the place to eat there.

Bruckus A great stop is the Potosi Brewing Company in Potosi Wis. Just north of Dubuque on the Wisconsin Side. Cool little town. Great food, Beer and Homemade Rootbeer since your Riding. Usually some bikes and a good outdoor beer garden. Check out there website if your interested.

Gngraham Nice ride this weekend. Cooler than I expected and Saturday was overcast. Sunday ended up being pretty nice. Road down on the MN/IA side and back on the WI side. MacGregor was covered in bikes and had some nice "biker" watering holes. Never made it as far as Galena. Spent the night puttering around Dubuque. Not SW, but a good ride none the less.

bigdoug1130 Gngraham, i feel your pain! lots of great riding along GRR, marquette/mcgregor are nice, balltown offers a great view and i believe breitbach's restauant is iowas oldest. galena ill is a good stop if your into shopping. we'll be in galena and savanna next weekend, my parents 52 anniversary and they wanted to ride that way. have fun and be safe.

shrknz I second the happy joes pizza suggestion. I worked there for several years and still love it! I used to get presents from Happy Joe Whitey himself haha!

Craigmier Galena is nice, the town itself is a lil swanky if you want to get out and eat/shop. Dubuque is a great town, I grew up there. Beautiful along the Mississippi. Stop at Kelmes bar and grill, best burgers in town.

Also best pizza in the world - Happy Joes Pizza. Specialty is "taco pizza", and they ship it overnight on dry ice around the country its so damn good. Sounds weird, i know, but worth it.

shrknz I live close by. Galena is a nice little town. Lots of shops, crafty stuff, wine samples etc. not my gig. There is a ski resort near by that has a down hill luge in the summer. Sharks roadhouse is pretty close as well. Poopys bar and grill in savannah illinois might be worth a stop

Bucktown Skip Dubuque and head down to Galena IL. Much more to do and see there. It's about 20min away.
