HELP-HELP-HELP

I just got my new chrome lower legs/sliders but I can figure out how to get to the screws holding the cow bells . Anyone have any advise other than disassemble the entire front end....:crying:

More R/G Fork Tube questions...........

Zedbra, Thanks for your reply. I've decided to put this project on hold till riding season is over (winter project). I've replaced the rear shocks with an ÄIR RIDE W/Compressor" in lieu of the fork tube project.

I do have another question......did you pull out your fork tubes ? If you did please share the process if you would. I've kinda been looking for anything on the web for R/Glide Fork Tube Removal and can't find anything to give me an idea if what's involved especially concerning the fairing or any other parts that may need to be removed for Fork Tube removal. I'd appreciate any advice/experience you've had and you'd care to share. :smile:

I did remove my entire front end off the bike, I was also swapping out the springs. Figured I may as well check the bushings (which were worn out) and I then polished the lowers. It isn't a hard job, but it does take time. Also, when putting the springs and caps back on, if you don't have a vice jig to hold the lower tube, then you will need a third hand to hold the tube/slider while pressing the top cap back on.

I swear I was on YouTube not that long ago and somebody was doing a step-by-step front fork removal I Cheated and had the dealer do it years ago because I installed progressive mono tubesAnd chromed the front.those mono tubes After 20,000 milesare amazing with an air ride suspension it’ll be a totally different bike I did coil overs in the back but not as good as when I had the stock Harley air oil combo Good luck

Thanks for sharing that info. That's why I thought I'd better make this a winter project, so I can take my time with it.

EDIT, ADD ON INFO:

During my YouTube searches this morning I ran across this video on removing the Ignition Switch and the Gauge Nacelle which I though was perfect for those looking for the early model R/G's, 07,08,09 etc. info on the switch as well as the front Fork Removal as this would need to be done to accomplish that without any inner/outer fairing removal as has been suggested on some other discussions I've read.

Disregard the STREET GLIDE TITLE, IT'S DONE ON A ROAD GLIDE !

I used that video when I removed my ignition the first time. If you try sticking the lock in without the spring to rotate the tumblers to unlock the steering, be prepared to fiddle with getting the tumblers lined up again afterwards - that can take a while.
