Hello everyone. My name is Cleveland. I am 32 and live in the Daytona Beach area of Florida transplanted here from the Waco TX area by the militay and an exwife. so my buddy gave me a tour pac that if I remember correctly came off an 01 touring bike but Im not 100% on that year but it is older. I have it painted and mounted up on a detachable and adjustable braket. It looks awesome but now I need to move on the the wiring. This is what I need help with. The pac has the speakers and controlers on the sides so i want to add all the lights, speakers antennas and the CB. I have the part that goes onto the back of the radio for the CB and as I understand it i will need to go to Harley so they can program the radio but I need all the rest of the wiring and connections. Only thing I know is on the bike is the hand controlers. I am fairly new to Harley. I came to the dark side from sports bikes and will NEVER look back but I really want to do some cross country traveling on this thing and want to get everything wired up. I tried to get some help from the local HD dealer parts section....let's just say they were not helpful.

I went from a Electraglide standard to a RGU (Ultra) my older bike came with no radio, so I added a lo-buck car deck and was fine, nothing fancy just tunes. moving on to the Ultra it came stock with a CB, tour pack, 4 speakers etc and one thing very high on my list was a TP detach kit because when Im solo I think a tour pack makes the bike look like a geezer glide.

when disconnecting the TP for detach all those wires are a big pain, thats in addition to hoisting the TP up and on/off and stowing it somewhere. what I ended up doing is removing the antennas, and I leave the wires unhooked coiled up under the seat and just use the front speakers.

and the CB? I asked around my buds on ultras and not a single one was using their CB, some removed the add on part to make room for an amp. I put a small antenna under the fairing for the FM, yeah it sucks...but I use MP3 all the time so I never tried to improve it. you can get amplified ones.

the speakers on the TP I left in place because they kind of make up the "bucket seat" effect and when my wife or daughter rides with me it gives them some support but if im solo the TP stays home.

yes I did lose the TP lights but im just not interested in popping the seat off and uncoiling wiring every time I use the TP.

and...if you gotta have everthing, mybe skip the detach, almost all my buds on Ultras run the TP 100%, I just like the clean look...

not trying to talk you out of it, just saying before you spend lots of time and money think if its worth it.

I would call PC Pain (Jon) at Horny Toad HD and ask him about the wiring harness.
The wiring can be a PIA on a detachable tour pak and the CB is about obsolete because hardly anyone use a CB anymore. You can just get the speaker harness if you want the speakers to work on the tour pak.

I got all the lights wired up. I travel a lot and understand that the CB is less used but I use my CB when I travel for work now and it has come in handy many times with truckers. So it is worth it to me but not as much as having the lights and speakers.
