Hello, I also posted this in the general discussion forum since I already had a thread about windshield choice.

Here is the 10" windvest. I think I should have gone with the 9". When I get in a relaxed riding position I am barely looking over it.

How tall are you, inseam ?
I just ordered the 10" up this am. I'm 5'-9" w/ a 31" inseam & have the tall boy seat as I needed to move back a bit to be comfortable. Any passenger input ?

I am 5' 8 and with the older fairing style I use the 12 inch Windvest and I see 2 to 3 inches above the top.

Thanks for pics but it doesn't tell much without your height. How tall are you? I'm 5'8" and considering between 10 and 12" WV also. I'm near Windvest shop so I may stop in and see what I can find.

Specific to 2015 Road Glide......

Can anyone running the 10" or 12" Windvest tell me whether they have drilled or slotted mounting holes?

Also, Windvest appears to be one brand without the black masking trim around the bottom of the shield that helps "hide" the rubber gasket.

How does the installation look in real life without that mask when you can see the rubber gasket behind the windshield?

For anyone that has actually had their hands on both the Freedom Shield and the Windvest, from photos it looks like the Windvest has a more pronounced lip at the top of the shield when comparing it to Freedom Shields. Is that an optical illusion or is that a true statement?

Is the Windvest gun smoke tint darker than the Freedom Shield dark grey tint?

The Windvest 12" has drilled and not slotted mounting holes. I hate that.

Thanks for that confirmation. I've seen pictures of the Windvest with both drilled and slotted holes. I read somewhere else that Windvest was having a problem with the acrylic cracking on the drilled holes, so they converted to slotted holes.

The photos on their website appear to show as much, but most of the other photos around the web show the drilled holes.

How about the tint? Is it a dark grey or more of a dark / smoked amber?

I had a 12" FS that I bought and it was just a bit too tall for me, so I sold it to a fellow forum member here and ordered an 11" FS to try. Hoping to hit the sweet spot of moderate protection without having to look through the glass on the numerous hills and slopes in my neck of the country.

But the dark grey FS model really isn't that dark and thought I might try the 10" WV if the tint was appreciably darker.

I've got the 10" Freedom Shield in dark grey. It looks just as dark as tbe stock shield but I think with a taller shield it tends to look lighter because it is up & above the dash, letting light through compared to the stock shield.

It definitely cracks around the drilled holes. I noticed it in the first two weeks I had it. The light smoke it what I have and it's fine to see through. I probably need to call Doug at Windvest and ask him about the cracking.

In the same forum I was reading about the cracks, a member mentioned that he had contacted Windvest and they sent a new version free of charge (as soon as he had returned the cracked one).

No harm in trying.

Ive had so many questions, concerns, sizing when it comes to windshields....talked to Windvest...talked to Klock Werks...talked to Freedom...here are my opinions...

Freedom answered all my questions quickly....I think there CS is outstanding!
I did have an issue with the way there tint was...(more "brownish" than grey, but its all personal preference)

Klock Works were helpful and friendly, even offered a "Veterans Discount". However reading all the reviews on the forum...wasn't all that convinced!! (Again, its all personal preference)

Windvest...very friendly and informative...gave them my measurements...Im 5'9" with a 30" inseam, they recommended the 9"...I chose the solid black for looks! I also run a LePera Villian DL which puts me about an 1" back and an 1" down...yes I know I don't need the DL but I like the laid back feel with the extra inch. I ride relaxed and the 9" black Windvest puts the airflow right at the top of my head. I also have the HD wind deflectors on order through HD, heard they help! Time will tell!
