This 103 motor will require new motor mounts that a bikes older than 2007 did not come with. There is a couple of site sponsors that would be happy to help you increase the displacement of your motor and have more HP, torque and less moter heat than any 103.
By the way, welcome to the forum.

The primary drive systems are very different from each other.
You can however, install a 4 3/8" S&S crankshaft in that 2004, and then bore to 3.937", building a 107".
This is a very common occurance here when a client has a fubared crank.

The 2016 103 "A" engine will only fit the 2007 and later model touring bikes.

Thanks to all for the quick answers, it was just that my coworker bought the 2016 and had the 120 installed and was given me a good price on the 103.

I picked one up today. I have no idea what I am going to do with it. Looks like I will have more money in the frame than in the motor if I build something.

Riding a 13 and also have a 93 FLHS. I have seen a few frames on ebay but the 09 and up are around 2 grand. Not in any hurry. I will probably look at for a few years then sell it.

What's different between the 2006 frame and 2007 ? I know harley went to the 96 inches on 07 , but are the holes for the motor mount actually in a different pattern?

The big problem is the 96/103 is designed for the 6 speed trans that bolts on differently to the engine and the oil lines are internal on the 96/103 and external on the 88/95 engines.

I thought the 2007 still had the 5 speed? ?

On the engine or frame ?
Both, they went from the center bottom front mount to the double mount on the front on each side with a motor mount rod going all the way across from side to side. Helped eliminate the flexing of the motor to the rear swing arm. On the top, it went from the center top of the engine to the top in front of the front head.
