5.8", 30" inseam, stock seat, 2015 Road Glide Special.

So today I tried a demo 12" Windsplitter from Cinci HD and gave it a thorough spin about, back roads, interstate, city, etc.

First kudos, it is a great looking windshield. Sexy looking on the bike, nice curves & lines, looks good on the bike from any angle.

Second kudos, it's clear and you can see through it with no distortion.

Unfortunately not the ticket for me for the following reasons:

12" is about an inch too tall. Incidentally, Harley does not measure 12" the way most aftermarket companies do, they measure from the bottom of the shield. It probably equavalent to a 14" from Freedom Shields is my estimate. I'm 5.8 and tend to slouch or relaxed a bit so I'm looking directly between the top of the windshield and the road, which is kind of annoying. If I lean back straight its easy to see over however. Damn, if it were just an inch lower... or I was an inch or two taller! Sure I could cut it but I don't see spending $200 bucks on a piece of plastic I might f' up. Plus, it just doesn't seem to be worth $Two Hundred Dollars! Good grief.

Another oddity is that while I felt less wind on the top half of face and head, and the speakers did seem to sound better, I was getting a rush of air from under the fairing, definitely more noticeable than with the stock short shield. I can ride with the stock shield at 80 with a ball cap face forward.

So the point of all this, I'm planning a long loop trip soon to visit some family and get the hell out of town and thought a new windshield would be worth checking into. So I'm looking. I like the stock shield (I know most don't) just fine for most day trips, and even on the highway it isn't that bad for me.

Next up will be Freedom Shields 11" Sport is what I'm thinking. Admittedly looks are somewhat important and I don't care for the looks of the touring. My hesitation is I also want to fit the HD fairing pouch.

Harley's are such a damn problem. Today I had a Mickey Mouse sewed on my vest.

15 RG. I also like the stock shield, but wanted a larger shield for bad weather. I got the 9" Madstad with quick detach brackets. You can run just the base plate which is the same size as stock. Or add the outer shield and adjust as needed. You do need to add the GADS to mitigate the lower airflow if you don't have lower fairings. IMO MadStad is the best looking shield especially on the Rushmores.

I hear ya, and maybe I'm missing something, but I just haven't warmed up to the look of the Madstads.

I'm hesitant to start with the 12" Freedom, but now you have me wondering. Also, someone said they got the HD pouch to work with a FS Sport. Wish I could find that thread again... anyone?

Call John @ Freedom. He'll probably have your answer. I've got a 13" standard Freedom. Looks good, works great, and I look way over it. 6' 32" inseam.
