Wanted to make a checklist of things needed or to simply make things easier for installing bars that require new cables and/or wires. Just a quick reference for us that want to install , and dont want to check several different threads. Please add anything that you can think of. Things that I can think of are:
1) Extended cables and wires
2) Heat shrink
3) Small chain to pull wires through
4) Lube to help wires slide through

I have 12" Wild 1 Outlaws on my 2011 RGC and used all stock cables and wires. Fit great. The throttle harness just made it and clutch and brake were close. Control wires had room to spare. Just used a piece of wire to pull a string through. Then used string with electrical tape to pull wires through. Pretty easy.

Don't forget the manual... Pretty handy to have for a job like this. There is also info on the DIY thread.

All you need

You do not need to extend your wires, You can use your Stock wrap. You can keep clutch and brake line Just take clutch from center of forks to side, for your brake line cut the zip tie and let it run freely. NOTE: I do plan on extending the clutch and brake line, I just didn't feel up to pulling exhaust and tank right now. If ya want it all to run easier get your wife or someone to help you feed as you pull, I ran the TBW first. Take your time and I prayed first; and come to think of it, I prayed through it all. Good luck and have fun.

Comfort Factor?

The 12's really do look great. Probably the perfect height for me at 6ft tall. I may wanna do some mini apes in future, but fear the long distance comfort factor. To you and any others who have ridden with 12's, how long can you ride with them? Is there noticeably more arm/shoulder fatigue? Some 10's would proabably be better for me, but that's not much taller than the stock bars......

Tek74,
I've got 10" Monkey's and "No Problem w/Riding all Day!" matter of fact, have never been more "Comfy!"
I'm 6'3" and bars w/H.D.'s Sidekick Seat are rite at shoulder height. With my stock seat-09, they are rite below my shoulders. So 12" bars, depending on what seat you have, mite be the ticket.
Hope this helps

Is that a picture of you with the 10" bars installed? If so, then 10" bars might be perfect for me too at 6ft - 6'1" with long arms. Looks are important, but comfort is more important. What specific (brand) bars are those?
By the way.....sweet RGC man.

OK....Since we've had this chat, I've been looking more into the 10" Monkey Bars and want to know what my total expense would be assuming I intstalled them myself. I know the bars are about $350. Would I need to buy and risers or extended cables? I remember reading that a guy went at far as 12' bars w/o needing extended cables, but said the factory cables barely worked.

Thanks, but I just saw a Yout Tube video (below) of the 12" Outlawz Chubby Apes on an RG as well, and am kinda liking them as they are less flashy. But I seriously think the Monkey Bars are a better compliment to your custom RGC. Regardless, I'm probably going to hold off on the 10" or 12" mini apes until Spring, as I really want to do all the performance mods first.

On another note, I just ordered a novelty helmet from Iron Horse Helmets, and they have a Polo and German style Boneyard helmet that would compliment the custom paint job on your bike quite well. When I saw them, they instantly reminded me of the custom paint job I just saw on your bike.
