I have been looking for videos on just installing some type of T/MX Bar on the newer Rushmore RG's with no luck.
Which adaptor plate did you go with, the Raptor or the T-Rex. I read somewhere that the Raptor allows the use of the ignition switch but according to Kraus' web site the ignition switch needs to be relocated.
I really like the gauge relocation kit they have, but man is it pricey.
Yes you are correct about the Raptor plate..... There are some websites that are incorrectly stating that you don’t have to relocate your ignition.
That is false, had a sales rep from FXR Division call Krause and get confirmation straight from the horses mouth. If you are running T-Bars with a Roadglide Raptor plate you will lose function of the lock and accessory switch functions. So technically yeah you don’t have to relocate it if you just plan on using ONLY the ignition. To me they makes no sense to lose the ability to lock the steering column or accessory mode on your bike.
So to run it properly you’ll need T-Bars, Raptor plate, ignition relocation, and more than likely gauge relocation plate and new cables. All that adds up to a very expensive setup!!!
I too like the setup that Kraus is offering, the setup in the video link is almost perfect, I think I would go a little taller or with the straight up bar. I like the look of not having the MX bars and Risers welded together.
After looking at this setup, the first thing I did was start researching ignition relocations for the RG, that too I have not been able to find anything on.
It would be really helpful if Kraus provided install videos and maybe links to things like the ignition relocation.
Another thing I have been looking at is the Westcoast Young Guns risers made for the Rushmore RG's with the addition of the Kraus gauge relocation kit. But then there's the old gauge housing and what do I do with it? Do I ditch the cover completely and lose the switch housing? How clean looking are the stock trees? Do I want them exposed?
If I remove the cover completely, would it be better to just not use the relocation plate, can I bolt straight to the top tree? The T-Rex option looks really good at the 1:51 point in the video, but I think I would go with the Raptor option. I think regardless of which you use, you ultimately loss the locking ability and only gain the accessory power ability when relocating.
Just looking for options now that I have purchased this set up but in chrome. And I did get the raptors plate, but if you get the Kraus Gaige relocation kit you don’t need the raptor plate it’s only if you plan on keeping your factory nacelle
All i know is I spoke with a rep from FXR Divsion. I had placed an order for their T-bars, raptor plate etc for my Roadglide. I wanted him to confirm that I wouldn’t have to relocate my ignition and I wouldn’t lose the fork lock or accessory functions. He called Krause and spoke with them and he refunded my purchase.
He said I would lose those functions or I’d have to relocate my ignition. 2 things that I had stated I did not want to do. He said some guys are running them and don’t mind losing the lock/accessory functions. I commend FXR Division for going the extra mile and refunding my $$$. Most shops would’ve just took my $$$ and sent me parts regardless
Funny story I thought I would share. Back in 2012 during Shark Week II, we met a couple from Indiana (Ron (aka Smitty), and his wife Karen). We hit it off and realized we lived within in an hour of each other. We lived in central Illinois and they lived in Indiana. Over they next year we...
