Stopped by my local dealer today. They know I've been debating trading for the new RGU. Told them I'm waiting to see the 17 colors and they asked if I'd like to see them! Right now I've got the big blue pearl which I really like. Good luck - one of the new colors for next year is a custom blue/blue. Can't remember the exact fancy terms, but a darker blue sparkle w/ a lighter blue. Anxious to see it, might just sway me to getting a 17 (love the current ride but like all of the new changes).

The other new custom color was a gold/dark gold sparkle type color. Not sure if it is for the RGU, but the other new color looks like a burned almost rust type color.

Anyway, hadn't seen anything about the 17 colors yet on here. Sorry, no pics. And, I think most of the other current colors will be available again - but really just focused on the couple of new custom colors. I think the new colors might look pretty good!

I'd like to see an RGU in the Olive Gold or Olive Gold Denim like they have on the Street Glide or the Softail Slim S.

OK Ron, you know better than to start a thread about next year's colors without pics! WTF were you thinking? Now you are obligated to go back and get us some pictures ....

Speaking of colors, the local dealer has a Breakout in the crushed ice pearl (white). I thought it looked terrific.

Generally, I've always considered HD's paint to be the best OEM paint jobs on any brand of motorcycle. And it probably still is (here comes the but'), but I think they've showed a lack of imagination since about 2012. Nothing wrong with what they've done but they seem to be stuck in a rut with the same ol' base colors (in slightly different hues) being repeated year after year. Not including CVO in this mix, just the so called "standard" paint colors. They've become fairly predictable. Black, denim black, orange, blue and/or red. Where's the yellow, the greens, straight silver, white, etc? You'd just think that with the average age of a new RG buyer never being as low as it is right now (due to the bagger craze) that they might have introduced a single new bright, vibrant color that might appeal to the younger buyers. Sorry, just a retired marketing guy who takes notice of these things out of habit.

Maybe they should bring back Willy G. part time and put him in charge of paint. ;)

That and use some of the imagination on the touring bikes such as the skunk bike and several other special type paint sets that have broad appeal. It's about time for Harley to make a statement to the Indian and the Victory motorcycle line and up the bar. It probably wouldn't cost more than $5 a bike to do these colors with the robots and no overtime needed! lol

Agreed. I consider myself lucky, as I've hated just about every Road Glide paint job. I despise the "swoop" that the Mothership insists on inflicting on the Roadie. It was like they refused to do a normal-looking 2-tone paint job.

Then I saw this.....

And I was done. It's damn close to the '78 Indy Pace Car paint, and that's a Good Thing.

Several Roadglide.org members have/had em

put the stock gold wheels back on @80k

Chrome or Laces look better and not as, well g diverse

There were a couple of high roller customs running around Daytona that had their wheels copper plated ..... talk about freakin' FUGLY. They'd catch your attention because you just don't see much copper plating being used on bikes, especially something as large and visible as the wheels ... but there's a reason that you don't see em' too often ...

If I was doing a custom that was at all 'retro', I'd have to have nickel, It has that slightly stealie-blue tint in certain lighting. I likie.

Wrong my Friend, nickel yellows, likely from the sulfur or S-rounds and brightner

blue tint is from the hexavalent chrome.....the nature, Floride content and the throwing off the anamony in the lead anodes

Duplex nickel is the old wartime formula, lot more whitish and an art to buff, btch to strip or replate

just about tail anything. .................................................
