Just bought a 2003 road glide at an estate sale. All done up. The ignition switch won't move to lock and the keys don't really seem to do anything. I bought a disk lock in the meantime. I took it you a dealer and the mechanic couldn't figure it out and he couldn't pop the cover off either, said it was stuck and would take a while to figure things out, hence a lot of money. Was wondering if it's easy or not to swap out a whole new ignition switch? Or possibly upgrade it?

It's a 5 minute job if you can get it to the lock position. With the key in turn it to the lock position push up on the pin under the switch then turn it all the way to the right accessory and it will pop out. The newer ones will pop out same process but they will come out without turning it to the accessory after depressing the pin. If it was taken out before and put back in it's possible they got the pin stuck. You may be able to hook under it with something and depress the pin with the key in and see if that works. Or it's the wrong key... found this on Youtube for you https://youtu.be/wvhAeiwY8Ho

The button that has to be pushed would be in the lower left corner under the switch. I have used a small allen wrench and attached a pair of vise grips to the end for leverage, Slide the elbow under the switch and rotate the end up to push the switch up. It would be easier of course if you got it to the lock position because that corner becomes exposed. Good Luck
