I wanted to let everybody know that I just installed a Clearview Sport 9 inch on my 2010. I had Clearviews on my other bikes and liked them alot. I am riding this bike with a 3/4 Arai and a Full Face. I'm 6'3 and using a Corbin Gunfighter which sits you down a little in the saddle. I also have my 3/4 helmet wired and use the J&M Speakers inside the Helmet. The windshield works great so far and I will keep you informed. The problem I had before on my old Glide was the head buffetting not as much as wind. My theory is SHORTER windshield (more wind) and get done with the swirling/buffeting effect. The problem is that alot of things contribute to the problem such as Helmet, seat height, lowers and the shield itself. So I wanted to throw my .02cents out there and help if i can. Here are some pics.

I put the J&M and I think they have more treble and mid but that is about all I can say. They sound a little better than stock but not much. I also put the J&M antenna in the dash and it works great. I wanted the fairing off 1 time, so I ordered everything and installed it all at once. My 07 fairing came off 7 or 8 times and the plastic that the screws go into was jacked. I guess you live and learn.

No buffetting

After some different rides, I will give my opionion on the 9 inch clearview sport. NO BUFFETTING, You do have wind noise (your head is in the wind) so if you ride this shield, wear a GOOD/QUIET helmet. I use ARAI helmets and luv this windshield. I ride between 70 and 85 and the faster you go, the more wind noise. I have my helmet plugged in and at 70, it is perfect.

More feedback...

Just noticed your listed your height in original posting-apologies for not catching it earlier. Since you I am just over 5'7, I suspect this shield may work better for me than it has for you, so I may just give it a try. Maybe I can even experience buffeting-free ridiing while helmetless in warmer weather! Thanks for the info!

I placed my order for the 9" Sport late yesterday over the phone. The people couldn't have been more helpful. I opted for one of the shields in their clearance inventory which has some small hard-to-see scratches to save some bucks. They will take the shield back no questions asked; I pay shipping. They also will cut custom sizes for a modest fee. Can't wait to test the new shield. I'll provide update once tested so others of my vertically-challanged stature may benefit.

Got it today. Installation, including removal of stock windshield, took about 25-35 minutes. Installation was straight forward. Clearview puts one of the mounting screws on the new shield so you can see how they're assembled--slick!

For my height (between 5'7" and 5'8") the shield height is about mouth-level.

Test ride: Major improvement over stock windshield. There is still air, but mostly at top of head and tolerable. Still some wind noise as well. but I can now hear my radio at 70-75 mpb with volume set about half and noise compensation at "3".

All-in-all I'm more than pleased. If I ever do extended touring, I might invest in a touring shield, or live with a full-faced helmet for wet weather. But, the Sport will be fine for weekenders and local runs--which is what I wanted.

I had the same issue with mu 2004 RG, allot of wind noise and head buffeting. I went with a 16" Klockwerks shield and that helped some. I'm 6'1" and just went from the stock seat to a Corbin seat. This moved me down and back and made things even better than the shield change out. Now I'm going to a 3/4 helmet with a shield from a half helmet to try and lessen even more wind noise. It sounds like you guys are saying with the shorter shield you are still getting the wind noise but less head bufffeting. Sounds like a more imporved ride all around. Let me know if you agree?
Thanks

You are correct; I still get some wind noise and some buffeting, but it's much more acceptable than the stock shield. This Spring/Summer I'll be doing some longer rides and will then know if I will need to get another shield for touring. I noticed some new shields for RGs since this thread was first posted, I'd be interested in hearing about some of those, as well.

Mink....I'm 5'6" and tried a few different shields....am using a CV -1". I can look over it and not have the top of the shield in my line of sight in a normal sitting position....The only way I got rid of (ALMOST) all the buffeting was to add lower fairings....made all the difference in the world....
