I have been looking at the D&D exhaust. Wondering if anyone has the 2-1 Fat Cat or even the Boss slip on. The website has the dyno info on the Fat Cat but not the slip on with the OEM head pipe. It also says no tuner needed.

I have the D&D slip on mounted to the factory head pipe on my 2010 FLTRX. With the CAT exhaust, the D&D was quieter than I wanted, so I removed the baffle. Perfect! Nice low tone, plenty of sound, but still quiet enough to enjoy the Marshall Tucker band on the stereo. I added the H-D black heat shields, and the D&D looks great, sounds great, and performs very well. I added the H-D Screamin' Eagle air cleaner, and a Stage 1 re-program.

I have been eying the HD heat shields but was unsure of fit since they say they are not for 2010 FLHX or FLTRX. Did you have to cut them or anything?

I was prepared to cut them, because they will not work with the factory muffler. However, with the D&D they fit perfectly, no trimming required.

As you can see in this picture, the D&D is rather blunt in front, instead of the long taper on the H-D muffler.

Thanks for the photos and info Jeff. It looks great! I spoke to a guy at D&D and he said there was a pretty big sound difference between the slip-on and the full Fat Cat system because of the cat. conv. on the stock pipes. He also said you receive about 5% hp increase with the slip-on and 15% with the full 2-1 and a high flow breather. Big price difference!!! Again, thanks for the feedback. Still deciding which way to go???

Klockwerks Shield

Jeff,
i am 5'11" and looking at different shield and of course hear good and bad of them all. would like to chat about your experience with yours as it is one i have the most interest in. would you be available some time to discuss your experience with the 12" KlockWerks. like yourself i don't care to have one to look through but would like to cut down on the wind noise to make it easier to hear the radio as well as have some protection

I am also 5'11, or at least I used to be. We get shorter as we age, and I am 51 now. Came upon me all of a sudden. Anyway, I don't know how to do the online chat thing. I don't type fast enough to keep up. Email or call me if you like.

If your Harley dealer is like mine, he will let you try out a windshield before buying.

I have a D&D Boss fat cat 2:1 with quiet baffle on order. Patiently awaiting it's arrival. Supposed to have shipped yesterday or today. Which also means I will have a SE Nightstick for sale.

The pipes look great! How do they sound? I went for the 2:1 Fat Cat as well. It shipped today and I am anxiously waiting. I went with the slant cut instead of the back cut because I am planning on extended bags at some point.

I've only ridden it about 20 miles since putting on the pipes due to rain so the verdict is still out on how I like them.
But, at idle and cruise they have a nice deep rumble. No problem hearing the radio at cruise. Barely flick the throttle and they become LOUD and I have the concentric quiet baffle. I'm glad I got the quiet baffle. First time I rode with them I had no tuner. Bike seemed to run just fine. Next time I rode I put on my fuelpak just to see if there is any difference. I couldn't really see a difference in power but I'm sure the Fuelpak has richened the AFR up a bit and will probably run cooler. The fuelpak uses FP-3231 numbers for the D&D's and Ness big sucker. I talked to D&D over the phone. They told me they had about 4 weeks on the dyno testing the '09's with and without a tuner and could never get more performance by using a tuner. They said they had 40 hours on the dyno with the 2010's and had the same results. So I see no reason in using a tuner with this exhaust unless you already have one which is my case. A tuner would only change your AFR. They also said if you make any engine mods, cam, heads, etc. you would definately have to use a tuner. I bought the exhaust for the 'stock engine only'. The hardest thing about the install is putting in the new exhaust gaskets. A very tight fit. Exhaust utilizes the o2 sensors. They come complete with gaskets and all mounting hardware. Very good quality.

Here is a video of my D&D boss fat cat on my 2010 RGC, Ness Big Sucker. It has the concentric quiet baffle which is for the stock 96" engine only.

Ran a Fat Cat on my '05 Cop Bike, loved the sound and look. Went with the slip-on on my new Denim Glide, it's pretty quiet but (and it feels kinda weird to type this) I like the lower volume. Plus, they're made here in Ft Worth by Dave Rash and his crew, some the best folks in the biz. Can't go wrong with the D&D, IMHO.
