a friend of mine has a factory shop manual for a 2009 Road Glide and it says do not screw in the dip stick when checking the trans fluid level, another friend has a factory shop manual for a 2012 Road Glide and it says to screw the dipstick in to check the trans level - I thought they would all pretty much be the same and was wondering why they are different - I'd like to know what procedure would be used to check the trans fluid on a 2013 Road Glide - thanks guys

I just happen to have my 13 manual and it says...

Page 1-25 section 1.10
3. Insert dipstick into transmission. thread dipstick in until O-Ring makes contact with case. DO NOT TIGHTEN.
4. See figure 1-12. Remove the dipstick. Check the lubricant level on the dipstick.

should it be checked on the kickstand or straight upright?

1. Park the motorcycle on a level surface leaning on the jiffy stand.

and 2 for good measure ... remove and wipe....

5. The level should be between the A and F marks. Add lubricant if necessary. Refer to table 1-10.

6. Install the dipstick. Tighten to 25 - 75 IN-lbs. Note that is INCH.
